Rahm is the better man. As a republican and a Chicagoan, I can tell you the city had to vote for Rahm. Chuy is the Union representative here. Chicago is already up to its ears in union pension dept.
Rahm pissed off the unions when he opened charter schools and closed failed schools. He asked the business leaders what kinds of graduates they would hire from the Chicago City Colleges and he changed the curriculum. In many cases he needed to hire business specialists to teach the classes not union teachers. And he has privatized some city services.
While I am against Rahm on a lot of things. Chuy would have killed Chicago. He promised the unions everything. Including appointing union leaders to all the boards in the city. In a city that votes 90% democrat, believe me, Rahm is the best we could do.
This is very sad, because the people of Chicago would have suffered more under Garcia.

Almost all large cities are 60%+ democrat voting. This is true even in Texas. In Illinois the last Governor was elected with one county, Cook. Cook is 95% Chicago. The governor lost every other county in the state and still won.
I know there are a very few big cities with republican mayors. But in 50 years of living in Chicago, we have always had a democrat.
You would think that the black people in the slums of Chicago would try something else. Why do they complain about their slums and still vote the same way every election? Republicans didn’t make those slums.
