How to win this small battle – For Christian Small Business Owners
Vanity | 4/3/15 | Karen Dennison

I believe that we are in a war, a war that we have no idea how to fight. We don’t understand the rules of engagement. Our opponents have a take no prisoners attitude and we just want to be nice to everyone. On top of that, most of us are too busy taking care of ourselves and our families to want to engage in warfare with people that we have no animus towards. Additionally, we are much too comfortable to risk what we have to run off tilting at windmills.

So the slide into totalitarianism continues. It is, however, reaching a level that is catching our attention. When a small town pizzeria is shut down when they refused service to no one, we sit up and become a little more concerned.

A little reminiscent of the statement by Martin Niemoller:

“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.”

A have a solution for the small businesses. This isn’t the winning blow to their movement by any stretch of the imagination, but it can be a small winning battle -

All small businesses should agree to provide services for the little homosexual parties (I refuse to call it a wedding since that is not what that word means and I am tired of ceding our vocabulary to them).

The contract should be written that XX company will provide services for the homosexual party for the usual price of $YY. The check should be made out to National Organization for Marriage or Alliance Defending Freedom or some such traditional marriage organization. It is better if the customer has to write the check himself, but if not specify in the contract that all proceeds from this transaction will be donated in honor of the happy couple. Staple a form explaining the organization to the receipt (It should be easy to print something from their websites.)

If the happy couple were to go through with the agreement, the business owner would be out the money for the gig. I don’t see that ever happening, however, there is a cost to going to war.

That being said, and as evidenced by Chick Fil A and the GoFundMe for Memories Pizza, others are willing to help defray those costs.

As I mentioned, we are being attacked. And we don’t think like our opponents. It would never occur to us to “make” someone do something that goes against his or her deeply held beliefs. Changing our tactics and taking each of these skirmishes more seriously is going to be important.

In war there are material costs and casualties. We need to understand that, accept it and engage. We are at war.

When the left claims we want to discriminate against homosexuals because of who they love, we should remind them that they can love whomever they choose. However, when they want to “marry” that person, one assumes the union will be consummated, and THAT is what the Christian finds objectionable. It is possible to love someone and not be intimate with them, a fact the left refuses to acknowledge, but when a Christian is forced to participate in a gay marriage ceremony through their business, they are giving tacit approval to a sinful act, which sullies his or her own soul as well.

Then don’t give ALL the proceeds away. Just mention that “at the owner’s discretion, some or all of the revenue from this transaction may be contributed to Down With Homos, the Anti-Buggery League, or Heterosexuals United.”

I prefer passive resistance.

“Sure, what would you like your cake to say, include, etc.” After the gay mafia response: “No problem. My rate for that cake is (quote ten times the normal rate).” If they book the cake, write the contract with no penalty for nonperformance and then cancel at the last minute due to personal reasons. More likely, the demand for a gay cake is a setup, and they will move on to another victim if you appear to comply, regardless of details such as price.

The same for “wedding” photography for a fake wedding. “Sure. My rate is (quote ten times your usual rate).” Then they will move on, or you cancel for personal reasons at the last minute.

The same for “wedding” flowers for anything the florist finds objectionable. Quote an unreasonable price, take the contract if they accept that unreasonable price, and then cancel at the last minute. For a wedding venue, schedule major emergency septic work on that date, when the contract specifies that there is no penalty for nonperformance.

We should never submit, but neither can we give a courteous refusal. We are dealing with evil, and the rules for civilized interaction do not apply any more than if you wake up to find an armed robber in your home.

Nonrefundable deposit.

That would be a LARGE, Very Large deposit. Specifically noted to be given to a local charity, preferably one repugnant to the depositor.

During Rush's show today, I used my cell phone to access his website and donated a small amount via the link provided. I cannot tell you how good that made me feel! I was fighting back against the small number of individuals who are creating this chaos and helping to show them how much the rest of us disagree with what they are doing to America!
