With the Wisconsin men's basketball team about to make its second straight Final Four appearance, national media outlets are looking into all sorts of angles on the team.

On Thursday, USA Today published a story trying to answer this question: "Why is the Badgers' roster predominantly white?"

Reporter Josh Peter interviewed former Badgers players, assistant coaches and UW-Madison officials to get into why Wisconsin is so unlike the other Final Four teams in terms of racial makeup.

You know if you took an American of African descent player from one team, and a player of European descent from Wisconsin, and you stood them side-by-side and started listing their physical similarities and differences, you’d find a couple of differences and about a million similarities.

This constant harangue about skin color comes from one party, the Democrat Party. They are the stinking bigots for constantly bringing this up.
They keep doing this to try and get political mileage out of it. It’s old and worn-out. Like Hillary.

Not only is the basketball team predominantly white, so are many of the Badger football players. Anyone ever remember news stories asking why so many players are black?

Supposedly, UW-Madison has higher academic standards than many major schools. Northwestern is another Big-Ten school that has a tough time getting blue chip players due to their stringent academic standards.

I'm a huge Badger fan. We just lost maybe the top player in the state, Diamond Stone, to Maryland. Stone is black. Stone was assiduously sought by Bo Ryan. But there were rumors he just couldn't get past the basic academic requirements.

I don't know how true that is, but Ryan usually has to accept players who were not in the top 100 of high school graduating seniors. Sam Dekker is an exception. Bronson Koenig I think was also in the top 100. But Frank Kaminsky was not in the top 100. Many "experts" thought he'd never be more than just a solid player.

But Ryan will take any player who can (1) pass the academic requirements and (2) play in his highly disciplined system. That leaves out many of the top high school players most of whom are black with questionable academic qualifications and who like to play in systems with faster tempos.

Many good black players from Milwaukee or the Milwaukee area end up going out of state or to Marquette. Few great black stars have ever gone to Madison. It certainly isn't because the coaches in Madison wouldn't like to have them play there.

In recent years for example two big black stars, Diamond Stone and Kevon Looney, have chosen schools out of state despite strong recruiting by Madison. In fact, many state people were convinced Stone was leaning towards Madison up until the final moment he chose Maryland. That's the way it goes.

Has anyone ever asked why Thompson's Georgetown teams never had a white player on them?

Or darker. Starting point guard Bronson Koenig is half native American.

Wisconsin recruits largely from heavily white states like Wisconsin and Minnesota, along with Illinois. The whites there also often very tall because because of the Scandinavian and German ancestry. The style of play of Wisconsin doesn't go well with the AAU teams either.

Traevon Jackson (Former NBA player Jim Jackson's son if you remember him) said it best.

"White, black, whatever," said Traevon Jackson, one of the five African-Americans on the roster. "We all worked hard, and Coach Ryan is a tough-nosed coach who gets the most out of you. We're in back-to-back Final Fours, and we're looking for more."

My own thoughts are that I hope Wisconsin wins against Kentucky and loses to Michigan State in the finals.

Because it’s cold in Wisconsin!

That’s the obvious answer, but of course, since it makes sense, the left will reject it.

IF you had read OBAMA'S autobiog. He didn't do well in high school because his coach played white basketball and Obama played black basketball.

Thus we can only conclude Bo lays white basketball.

"never had a white player"

If you watch college ball like I do, it's rare to find more than a few of the top fifty teams with more than a few white players. Look at Kentucky the best team in the country. Year after year for the past twenty years or more virtually the whole team has been black. That is true for most of top fifty teams.

In the Big Ten there are some other teams with more white players than black players. Iowa started four white players this year and made the NCAA tournament. But some Big Ten teams start five black players (Ohio St.) and most of the key reserves are also black.

Nevertheless, there are other good teams that play a lot of white players like Wisconsin. Gonzaga just missed going to the Final Four starting three white players and some key white reserves.

In one of the early epis of "All in the Family" when the Jeffersons move next door, the brother of Weezie subs for George and the race discussion moves to percentages with the exchange:

[Not-George] "If you think like that, then 88% of the Harlem Globetrotters ought to be black."

[Archie] "I never thought of that."

Not surprised Gannett's lib-think is to practice knee-jerk racism.

Oh, there ya go! I was wondering where the left would go with this!

Obviously, the black players are being forced off the team because of Scott Walker.

Even as an arch Badger fan, I have to say many years it was extremely tough to watch Ryan's teams. Even when they were winning.

He always gets the most out of his players, but his players are all afraid to make a mistake. Ryan will not hesitate to jerk a player out of the game for just one mistake. And many times, especially this year, Badger players will pass up good shots to get better shots.

It's hard to argue with results. Ryan's teams have made the NCAA tournament every year he's coached there, and we've never had two successive Final Four appearances until now.

The great majority of high school players in the country are white. Yet, the rosters of most major colleges are filled with black players. We should ask Jackson and Sharpton if that isn’t racist? (smirk)
