Gunmen armed with rocket-propelled grenades attacked several military checkpoints in Egypts Sinai region, killing 15 soldiers and two civilians, security sources said.
The attacks defied one of the toughest security crackdowns in the countrys history.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attacks but militants who support Islamic State have previously carried out similar operations in the Sinai Peninsula.

Sorry, but Sisi will be gone soon. From one side there is ISIS/MB, from another there is Iran, and from behind the scenes there is the US (under obola) constantly undermining Sisi. Sisi is a basket case and is surviving entirely thanks to the Saudis.

He’s been pledging support to the GCC and its allies vis a vis Yemen — the Arab Spring replacement for Yemen’s long-term dictator was forced out by Iran’s Shiite proxies, who are themselves allied with the ex-dictator — but we all know how good his word is.

At some point Egypt, with Israeli permission, will need to clean out the Sinai. When they do, and the terrorists whine to the media, they'll wish Israel was killing them.
