Where are the gays (whom we constantly hear are as financially successful as they are compassionate) to hire this guy who stood up for them? Chick fil A ought to make him offer. Love to see how that would be reported.

CFO with a medical device company $200,000+ per year?

Must not have been a very lucrative company.

Wasn’t she cool? Living the Christian Values in a way I am not sure I could.

The old saw “Pride goeth before a fall” seems to apply here. I like it.

Not only did this former CFO not own up to his own action, he's making the rounds on the news, saying Chick-fil-A supporters (quote) making bomb threats (unquote)

First I really doubt his claim;

second, federal authorities take bomb threats seriously, has/had his company taken any action against the so-called bomb threats? Why did the company simply 'fire him'?

My guess is that this guy's just another media attention %hore.

I think it was more than that which got him fired. If he was a jerk to a cashier at Chick fil a, chances are he was/is a jerk in other aspects of his life, including his job. Just speculating, but I'm guessing his employer wanted to get rid of him for some time and this stunt was the last straw.

Nobody, not even a liberal company run by gays, wants to hire an abusive person for a management position. Would you want to work for that a**hole?

Exactly.

He was making a great salary and he picks on a minimum wage employee!

What a jerk.

“At the time, Chick-fil-A was facing a huge public backlash...”

Ha! Wrong. Chick-fil-A was facing a manufactured attack by the media and a few special interest groups, and idiots like Mr. Smith were fooled into thinking it was a genuine public backlash. Then, the real public backlash showed up and idiots like Mr. Smith were on the wrong side of it.

"Nobody, not even a liberal company run by gays, wants to hire an abusive person for a management position. Would you want to work for that a**hole?"

So - Here's a hypothetical (but completely believable) backstory:

This Smith character has been an abrasive, abusive presence in the workplace for some time. His management (CEO, BOD) have been looking for a graceful way to get rid of him.

And as if scripted, he offers them the perfect opportunity.

Nailed it. They guy is obviously a bigot, he hates Christians and family values and probably makes sure everyone at work knows it.

An unemployed liberal on foodstamps? Hey, he’s living the dream! We should congratulate him on achieving the ultimate progressive goal! Well done, sir! Well done!

At the time, Chick-fil-A was facing a huge public backlash for its financial support of anti-gay groups and for the company president's remarks against gay marriage.

Says you. What I remember is going to the "support Chick-Fil-A night and standing in line for over an hour to get good." I remember everyone standing there, very patient, and loving the chance to do so.

You said...
“So what happened to “free speech”? if you lose your job over your words there is no free speech. It’s a fascist dicatorship, with private enterprise carrying out the purges of dissenters, instead of the government doing the dirty work.”

Although I don't see this as a real fee speech issue and businesses should be able to make business decision, I agree with your point.

IMO, this is no different than that Mozilla guy losing his job for simply donating to CA Prop 8. I think some folks here are being a little hypocritical

This line has been re-written since the last posting on FR.
