Total surrender. It is precisely the purpose of the law that if, for example, an owner of a wedding chapel does not want to rent it for a homosexual's bash, he can refuse. Pence goes even further than current Indiana law which does not designate homosexuals as a 'protected class.'

Total surrender is not acceptable.
Total war is.
Do it.
Because why?
Because sooner or later, we’ll have to do it.
Why not now?

Todd Starnes of Fox News said it best on his Facebook page:
So the governor wants a religious liberty law that does not protect religious liberty?

We need to see what the “amendment” will actually say; but, if it turns out that you are right, Pence should have a primary challenger who knows how to fight.

Big mistake Mr. Pence. And you know it.

Much is not being detailed, I assume this is some sort of attempt to keep the baby whilst dumping the bathwater but unless this applies to situations like the photographer and the cake decorator, who have an obviously valid “participatory” objection, this is going to be meaningless.

RE :”
Pence said he wants the General Assembly to move legislation this week that would make it clear that businesses are not allowed to deny services to anyone. He continued to insist, however, that he does not support adding protections explicitly barring discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity. “ This is bit contradictory sounding, but par for the course for him.
What was the purpose of the bill anyway?

Surrender? This is a Boehneresque preemptive surrender. There was no engaged battle of ideas here. Just GOP bending over for sodomites, again.

I sure do hope that Cruz clearly and directly rescinds his declaration yesterday of being "proud to stand with Mike Pence."
How about laws prohibiting punishment for those who choose to peacefully, civilly discriminate on religious MORAL grounds against anyone or anything? Laws against personal assault and battery, murder, fraud, theft, etc. are wholly sufficient to protect the rights of ALL, whether they are homosexual or straight.
Come on, Ted!!!

This is not even a Peter-like spur of the moment denial. This is a plan to roll back the whole purpose, and what everybody knew was the whole purpose. It was going to put an agenda in danger and that was not going to be tolerated.

Mike Pence does not truly know his heart, the arguments for and against this law, or the 1st amendment. For that he should not be in such a position of power.
I can argue his position better than he, but then again I am a HS graduate and house painter of some 40+ years. A man of “letters” and high breeding can’t be expected to keep up.
