An October conference has become the first to pull out of Indianapolis due to controversy over the Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
The American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) announced Monday they are pulling their 2015 Women's Conference from the city in response to the legislation Governor Mike Pence signed into law last week. The conference was scheduled from October 9-11 at the JW Marriott.
"The 1.6 million members of AFSCME cannot in good conscience make such a sizable financial investment in Indiana knowing that women and men in that state are deliberately being targeted for discrimination," the organization said in a release.

Unions are so gay.
Stupidity abounds.
That ought to drive the crime rate down several percentage points.*
* I once was an AFSCME member.
Isn’t the genesis of all of this the flap about queers wanting wedding cakes and all that ?
Probably hold down the crime rate.
Yes they are...
Back when I was a yute the CWA had signs around about “ISMS”.Racism sexism all that crap and they included homos.I used to tick them of by telling them homo is not a sex, race or religion its a lifestyle..Gesh they hated that
Indiana is seeing benefits already!
Why were they meeting in a right to work state in the first place?
Hypocrites.
Neanderthal union knuckledraggers. Put greed and money ahead of God and Freedom again. They sure do hate that pesky Bill of Rights. Pence should have thrown them out before they could pull out.
Indiana is a right to work state. Why is a public service union convening in Indiana in the first place?
Sounds like this issue is isolating Indiana from liberalism...
More states should take note.
Actually, it’s about criminalizing Christian beliefs.
That’s why they can’t let the 1 out of 100 cake makers refuse service to them.
It’s not about the cake. It’s about exterminating the beliefs.
Heh heh heh! Nailed it!
Discrimination laws were passed last century (for REAL!) and they are now being used against anything that is good and righteous ... thus ... it takes a law to protect the unprotected from the protected .... which is what the discrimination/anti-discrimination laws were meant to do
All the governor has done is sign in an ammendment on their own law ...
**** 'em !
Why don’t all these tolerant liberal leftists just go after Governor Pence with fire and pitchforks? They are intentionally misrepresenting the bill he signed. All they are is anti-Christian and anti-Republican. (Conservative)
I see the Left is in FULL ALINSKY mode like a pack of hyenas on this.
Hey, another benefit of this law. It chases unions away.
This is drama queen overload by the homosexuals, the left, and the media.
This country was founded on freedom of religion, now those freedoms are being taken away due to law suits, discrimination and threats.
This law is only confirming what the Constitution , the 1st amendment and the law states.
A Jewish baker can not be forced to make a NAZI emblem cake, nor can Jewish photographer be forced to attend a NAZI wedding or the Catholic church be forced to marry a homosexual couple. Shall we force now the Amish to go to war?
The only discrimination going on is homosexuals picking and choosing Christian businesses and then suing knowing that business does not believe in their shams, adoptions etc.
Yet again the north east elitist media and the West coast left wing nuts are showing us how much power they have and how they can intimidate others.
Well IN and Pence stand firm and I hope other states follow as the homosexuals want to get rid of the 1st amendment unless it suits them and they certainly want to outlaw Christian beliefs while imposing their homosexual agenda.
Sad part is that those in the unions do not even agree with the homosexual agenda nor does most who are spouting off like Charles Barkely
It tells me that most of the Midwest and the south is closer to leaving the cesspit of the north east and west coast thugs and media
