Tim Cook: Apple Will Oppose Bills Like Indiana's 'Religious Freedom' Law
Apple Chief Executive Tim Cook on Sunday broadened his criticism of a new law in Indiana, which opponents say could be used to discriminate against gay people, to other states that he says have similar laws.
Indiana Gov. Mike Pence signed the Religious Freedom Restoration Act into law Thursday, sparking an outcry from those, including Cook, who say it could be used to protect businesses that refuse to serve gay people. The law's supporters say it will prevent the government from forcing business owners from providing services that go against their religious beliefs.
"These bills rationalize injustice by pretending to defend something many of us hold dear," Cook wrote in a Washington Post op-ed, referring not only to Indiana's law, which goes into effect in July, but also to those of "more than two dozen states."

Much of corporate America is declaring war on Christians. I think more and more Christians are finally starting to wake up to this fact.
Steve Jobs believed it was better to be apolitical. I agree. But, even with Steve not endorsing these things some Freepers hated him.
So now someone endorses and they hate him too.
Plus, Microsoft has all sorts of support groups and perks for gays at Microsoft. Microsoft fully supports the lifestyle. ...Freepers conveniently disregard because they don’t want to be without a computer.
My sense is that the gays are beginning to sense a backlash building. The best way is stop the backlash before it builds momentum. For this reason, the gays are trying to go “Alinsky” on Indiana, although more than 20 states already have similar laws.
No. Apple should stop selling their products in the 19 states that allow religious freedom.

Apple: if Christians are for it, we’re again’ it!
Ping regarding our conversation from the other day. It’s no longer in his free time. Now it’s company policy.
When has ANYONE ever ordered a cake to "celebrate" the success of a present adulteress affair, or special flowers to decorate a party, celebration the "special rite" of adultery?
How about the above, for liars, thieves, covetousness, and bearing false witness ?
I recall something about a little known chicken restaurant a few years ago..
I didn’t know that. So now he wants to use his corporate influence to make his perversion an acceptable form for Christian employers (bakers, florists, owners of wedding chapels; photographers) to accept?
You seem obtuse to the fact that many just buy tools that work and prefer not to join a faddish cult when doing so. I will never buy a Datsun for that reason, execrable marketing identification. I will not be identified with such a flakey group.
That MS has lots of homos has little to do with anything. It is not a central part of their identity, or I should say, of their cult. But, if there is such a thing as a MS cult, I sure as heck have never noticed it.
Most users tacitly hate them with their endless updates, etc. They just want to use the damn things, not masturbate over the next OS release.

Apple, Starbucks... they must think that alienating half your customers is a good business plan.
Steve Jobs was smart enough to not wear his politics on his sleeves.

Considering Apple and Cook’s leftism, who could be surprised?
All major US corporations have been taken over by the GLBT crowd from the mainstream media (NY Times, LA Times etc) to the alphabet soup of TV media, to Disney, AT&T, Apple, Microsoft; Oracle; Hollywood; Sony; etc.
Applebots here see no evil
Nigel Farage, the leader of UKIP, spoke at CPAC the other month about the convergence of Big Business, Big Banks and Big Government in what he called “corporatism” involving the United Kingdom and its participation in the European Union.
I think that’s what we have going on in this country with issues ranging from gay marriage which is what this bill is related to over to things like Common Core, Amnesty and Obamacare (a bailout to big insurance companies, hospitals, pharma).
Governor Bentley in Alabama (a Republican) would not come out supporting AL Supreme Justice Roy Moore’s order to probate judges not to perform gay marriages because he was concerned about people in AL having jobs....Bentley was afraid of offending businesses like Apple and Mr. Cook.
You know, what gays object to is that they feel blocked from practicing homosexuality - i.e. being able to go to any baker to get a wedding cake. That’s not the same as simply being homosexual. So their argument is that they have a right to practice thir homosexuality freely.
On the other hand, they say that Christians can be Christian so long as they don’t practice their Christianity openly. In other words, go to church, but don’t run your business based on your beliefs.
So that’s one level of legal contradiction. But it connects to another level of legal hypocrisy when you remember that selling something is not the only aspect of conducting business - shopping for something, offering to buy something, is also a type of conducting business.
It just seems to me that these are arguments that have a possibility of winning in court. You have to remember that the court decisions are based on definitions and perspectives of applying those definitions. Finding direct contradictions in acceptable definitions is how things are actually argued, and I haven’t heard these particular arguments being made.
Perhaps they should be. Freedom of association and freedom of conducting business has to work both ways, and cannot be ruled otherwise when directly addressed - and that’s the key, to figure out a way to directly address them. Gays are winning because what they are actually doing, linguistically with the law, is simply not being addressed - yet.
