A woman is facing charges after police say she threw a Molotov cocktail at anti-abortion protesters who were standing outside of Planned Parenthood.
Melanie Toney, 52, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. According to the affidavit, the incident happened around 6:25 p.m. on Monday at the Planned Parenthood building on East Ben White Boulevard.
Multiple witnesses told police that they witnessed Toney throw a flaming object out of the passenger side window of her BMW SUV near the protesters, the affidavit stated.

I wasn’t trying to make a pacifist point here (because I’m not a pacifist) but in my rather broad experience over several states and several decades, I’ve never met a prolifer who was packing heat. And in the practical sense, what would an armed prolifer do? Spray the flaming-bottle lady’s car with bullets as she sped off and merged with traffic?

A very poor plan. Likely very unwelcome by the prolifers themselves, high risk of harming bystanders, and little if any chance of either remedying the situation immediately at hand, or preventing future assaults against prolifers, who will in any case be framed and blamed as aggressors.
