Linky only.
Having been a draftee during WWII and with 1/2 semester of college smarts under my belt I learned the lesson of the chain of command. In basic training at Fort Hood I was doing OK for a small size G.I.. Apparently during the weeks of training the Company COs are supposed to be looking for possible officer material to go to OCS. Well one day I was told to put on clean khakis and report to the CO headquarters for OCS interview. I had my interview and went back to the barracks. It was just a few minutes until I was told to report to the orderly office. When I walked into the room I could see the top dog sgt. was not going to be very friendly. He immediately called me to order and read me the riot act about not going through him before going to the OCS interview and that I violated Army protocol. At that time I learned that Army personnel are not always on the same train. I spent many hours on KP duty after the incident. I did not make it to OCS, probably a lot to do with the fact I told the Officers on the interview board my first priority was to go and kill as many Japs as I could to avenge my brother’s death on Okinawa. I ended up going to Leyte.
Reminds me of a Cheech and Chong album.
“My client found these drugs, and was on his way to police station to turn them in when he was apprehended.”
Good luck with that, Skippy (BB, not you!). When I was an Air Force Area and then Circuit Defense Counsel, we used to say that in the vast majority of our defense cases, our job was to make sure the government had done its job. Not sure how well that’ll work on this one, but it might be very effective.
My Dad was in MacArthur’s Army Air Corp and went to Leyte and New Guinea. He was there on the beach when “Dug Out Doug” walked across the water and said: “I have returned.”
My Dad left Leyte Island on a hospital ship.
Thank you for the freedom we take for granted.
I’m sure the Army has heard that lame attempt from thousands of deserters over the years.
If, by some miracle, he is convicted of desertion I have no doubt that he will be given a presidential pardon.
Battle of Leyte Gulf......very cool. Too bad Obama never read about it. That was true leadership. Those Navy Captains saved your buttollas. ; ) Thank you for your service. You guys are awesome, Obama’s generation not so much.
That’s some funny whores shit.....
Just a little vacation with his Afghani heroin dealer.
My father who was in the Sixth Marine Division took part in both campaigns (Eniwetok and Okinawa--as well as Guam).

He sent his clothes home.
He went there without his weapon? Really? After all, a razor is a must carry.
And it just so happened that while he was gone the enemy miraculously learned how to improve the success of their attacks. Pure coincidence.
Ridiculous.
1. He packed up all his personal items and sent them home.
2. He left his fellow soldiers vulnerable. After being relieved from guard duty, Bergdahl walked away and was not present the following morning. In other words, he endangered his companions first by deserting a small outpost set up quickly with vehicles and razor wire strung between the vehicles. Small outposts like that have limited fighters, and his desertion left them with less firepower.
3. The HQ was much more easily notified by traditional means such as phone, mail, email, etc. To leave in the middle of the night from an outpost is not likely.
4. An HQ is more accessible in the daytime than in the middle of the night.
5. The enemy is a likelihood anywhere outside the concertina. One doesn’t just walk away with any sense of personal security at all.
6. Bergdahl left his weapons behind. That is not the act of a warrior who intended to remain with his unit.
I don’t know what to think about this case. I don’t rule out that he went out to get high and got ambushed by terrorists after his drug connection got killed. But I could easily be wrong.
Yeah, and OJ was on the golf course just looking everywhere for the real killer.
..and O.J. is looking for the REAL murderers.
Men died because of this sleazeball. Nothing else matters, IMO.
