I've taken a lot of heat for reporting on the many, many inconsistencies and "evolutions" in Scott Walker's positions, but I think Walker has finally broken an egg that can't be re-shelled. He reportedly endorsed amnesty not six years ago, not two years ago, but two weeks ago, in a private group dinner:
... during the March 13 New Hampshire dinner, organized by New Hampshire Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Horn at the Copper Door Restaurant in Bedford, Mr. Walker said undocumented immigrants shouldnt be deported, and he mocked 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romneys suggestion that they would self-deport, according to people who were there.
Instead, they said, Mr. Walker said undocumented immigrants should be allowed to eventually get their citizenship without being given preferential treatment ahead of people already in line to obtain citizenship.
He said no to citizenship now, but later they could get it, said Bill Greiner, an owner of the Copper Door restaurant. Ken Merrifield, mayor of Franklin, N.H., who also attended, said Mr. Walker proposed that illegal immigrants should get to the back of the line for citizenship but not be deported. Three separate sources at the dinner confirmed Walkers remarks to the Journal.
To be fair, Scott Walker's spokesman denies making these comments, but he's lost all credibility. Three separate sources confirmed he said this. He has been publicly pro-amnesty for many, many years, going back as recently as two years ago.
For more than a decade before seriously entertaining a presidential campaign, Mr. Walker publicly favored a broad overhaul of immigration laws.

Um......No.
I’d be perfectly happy to vote for Walker in the general election. Despite rhetoric, I look at actual physical actions and results.
He has done well for Wisconsin.
He doesn’t fall under “Crawl on broken glass to vote for,” which is reserved for Sarah Palin or Ted Cruz, but I have no major issues. And he certainly does not fall under “Stay home and/or vote downticket only” like Jebe Arbusto
whispering campaign
say it often enough....yadda yadda yadda
No idea. I only know I’m not going to vote for him. Don’t think I’ll go for Cruz eithet, still think Perry is the man for the hour, me and 4% of people polled!
I agree with this. Actions speak louder than words, and he’s done quite well as a reformer in Wisconsin. I’m a Ted Cruz guy, but I would not be upset pulling the lever for Walker.
I like both Cruz and Walker in that order. However, it will be extremely difficult to vote for a candidate that has a position that may lead him to allow eventual citizenship for illegals here now. I just won’t support that, or the candidate who espouses it.
All three were Bush supporters.
Other people have said Walker made it clear he does not believe in a path to citizenship for illegals.
Like Ted Cruz, Walker says they will not be deported and can get work permits, but not US Citizenship.
He is a lightweight compared to Cruz, though I’d vote for him too. I just don’t think he would beat the Clintons.
That’s perfectly understandable, but the real question is, assuming that the eventual nominee is Walker, and is not Perry, would you vote for Walker in the general election? I would hope that most of us could agree that the answer to that question should be yes, even if we don’t agree 100% with him. Walker may not be the next Reagan, but he’s no Romney/McCain/Dole, etc.
Scott is the only candidate with government management experience. His track record shows he wants less government and more individual freedom.
He’s got my vote.
The yankee version of Rick Perry. No thanks.
Well damn, that sure was quick.
Ted Cruz is done too, I guess.
Who’s left? Jeb Bush?
I don’t know about this. I’d like to see the three sources identified by name.
Especially since, after Romney’s 47% screw up last cycle, EVERY GOP candidate should be aware that there’s no such thing as a “private” meeting.
Walker seems a lot smarter than to make that kind of mistake. If he really said that there’s an equally troubling issue in addition to support for amnesty and being two-faced on the issue: why he’d be so stupid to think he could get away with saying something like that.
So, like I said, I want more information on the ones making these allegations, or audio/video of him doing so..
[Still think Perry is the man for the hour]
Well, one thing he has going for him - he can shoot a pistol.
Walker gave a closed-to-the-press speech to AZ Chamber of Commerce - the pro-amnesty group.
Obviously, he wanted his private comments to the amnesty promoters to remain in the room. Why? (/rhetorical)
That’s another example Walker is the RINO favorite to push amnesty for the Chamber.
What’s Perry’s relationship with Cruz like?
[Ted Cruz is done too, I guess.]
I trust a President Ted Cruz to defend the U.S. Constitution.
Pretty impressive...
Solicitor General of Texas from 2003 - May 2008, Cruz was the first Hispanic Solicitor General in Texas, the youngest Solicitor General in the entire country, not to mention the longest tenure in Texas history.
Partner at the law firm Morgan, Lewis & Bockius, where he led the firms U.S. Supreme Court and national appellate litigation practice.
Cruz has authored 80+ SCOTUS briefs and presented 40+ oral arguments before The Court
Cruz served as a law clerk to Chief Justice William Rehnquist. Cruz was the first Hispanic ever to clerk for a Chief Justice of the United States
Described as a superb constitutional lawyer, the mans considerable skills and laser-like focus were on display for all when he took oily reptile Eric Holder by the neck and made him
answer the damn question.
In the landmark case of District of Columbia v. Heller, Cruz assembled a coalition of 31 states in defense of the principle that the 2nd Amendment guarantees an individual right to keep and bear arms.
Cruz presented oral argument for the amici states in the companion case to Heller before the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
In addition to his victory in Heller, Cruz has successfully defended the Ten Commandments monument on the Texas State Capitol grounds, the recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance in public schools and the majority of the 2003 Texas redistricting plan. Cruz also successfully defended, in Medellin v. Texas, the State of Texas against an attempt by the International Court of Justice to re-open the criminal convictions of 51 murderers on death row throughout the United States.
Director of the Office of Policy Planning at the Federal Trade Commission
Domestic Policy Advisor to U.S. President George W. Bush on the 2000 Bush-Cheney campaign.
Adjunct Professor of Law at the University of Texas School of Law in Austin, where he taught U.S. Supreme Court litigation
Ted Cruz is currently junior US Senator from Texas. In order to win the 2012 Republican nomination for the Senate seat vacated by Kay Bailey Hutchison, Cruz had to defeat Texas Lieutenant Governor David Dewhurst -heavily favored/backed by the DC old-guard GOP- in the Republican primary runoff. In the event, TEA Party favorite Cruz crushed Dewhurst, 57-43%...
he then beat Democrat Paul Sadler in the general election by a similar margin, 56-41. Cruz is also endorsed by the Tea Party Movement and the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Godspeed, Senator Cruz- Im all in.
Seems like just another politician hankering for power any way he can- bestintxas
...or...the opposition is throwing out whatever it can to see what sticks ...to undermine conservatives.
For instance, in the last two days, I've read about alleged sexual harassment charges against Allen West and that Cruz allegedly wanted to increase the H-1B cap by 500%. Both claims were sufficiently debunked.
This next election cycle will prove to be very challenging for folks to separate the wheat from the chaff given the immutable hostility of the RINO faction against Conservatives.
