WASHINGTON (AP) A dispute over Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walkers position on immigration erupted on Thursday, highlighting the Republicans struggle to appeal to conservatives on the explosive issue as he prepares to launch a Republican presidential bid.
The two-term governor has consistently opposed what he calls amnesty for immigrants in the country illegally, but his definition of amnesty has evolved. In a recent closed-door meeting with top New Hampshire Republicans, Walker said such immigrants should be allowed to stay in the country legally.

So this is getting legs?
Might as well get it over with.
You are so right CBS!! I’ll turn to Jeb for a solid stance on immigration. He’s the most electable, after all. /s

We’ll see, but let me say this and I think I speak for a large contingent of rightists.
After YEARS of immigration policy failure under Bush, and now YEARS of backstabbing, flip-flopping, and shamnesty pimping by governors, legislators, and others who are supposed to be on our side but are flooding the nation with third world detritus for the chamber of communists, I have ZERO TOLERANCE for this kind of BS. State your position, and stick with it. Don’t lie to me!
Walker is Shamnesty. Walkerbots in 3 2 1 ...
exactly.
Anything short of deportation IS amnesty and no wordsmith ink will change that fact.
Wordsmithing. Hate Apple iPad’s desire to second guess my typing.
Keep it up dinosaurs, the more you attack, the better it is for the attacked.
That’s really what it comes down to, the cheap labor importer donors or the voters.
I know I’m done voting for anyone unwilling to uphold the rule of law.
Illegal aliens can return home and apply to be immigrants under the law like everybody who is an immigrant.
I’m shocked and surprised by this revelation aren’t you?
Exactly. And go through the stress and pay through the nose like WE did for my hubby. If not, I want a frikkin’ refund. I would even love to see a class-action lawsuit, IMHO.
We followed the law!
Disappointed. That leaves Ted Cruz. Can’t think of another acceptable candidate that’s likely to run.
They are not immigrants, they are illegal aliens. They should be denied all support and be sent home.
Admittedly, I’m a Walker supporter but it’s becoming obvious that he supports amnesty in some form. I can’t vote for the man if this is his position. Whoever is our next president is going to have to confront this problem. My guess is that most of the illegals are going to end up staying in the country anyways, but don’t say openly you would allow illegals to stay without stipulations. Walker is making it appear he won’t do a damn thing to oppose it. I’m not a Cruzer at this moment but I’m ready to walk on Scott.
And Cruz won’t state if he will seek deportation or not. He is clear securing the border is first. But bush and Obama have try to tell what they did was securing the borders. Cruz will gain more with clarity than he might lose.
If he wants amnesty ever for illegal aliens— He is history politically. I will never vote for amnesty-— EVER!!!
