p>Those tolerant liberals have been at it again. Ted Cruz and evangelicals were public enemy no. 1 and 2 on Comedy Centrals The Nightly Show March 24. Host Larry Wilmore brought on liberal comedian Lewis Black, Actor and former member of the Obama Administration Kal Penn, pollster Kristen Soltis Anderson, and only one conservative, Amy Holmes, anchor for The Blaze TV, to discuss Ted Cruzs run for President.
The discussion began with Lewis Black blasting Cruz as a relic of the segregated past.
BLACK: Weve lived through this before. This is 1956. If he had appeared at Liberty University and it was shot in black and white, then Id go, I get it. This is someone who should never have made it to color television.
Black then went on to bash the evangelical students at Liberty, for supposedly condemning him to hell.
BLACK: Can I say as a Jew, for him to speak at Liberty University in front of those students, the born-again evangelicals, they kind of believe that if we don't accept Christ, if I dont accept Christ into my life, I'm going hell. So its not really a place for me to jump in and go, Oh boy! What a great candidate! I cut out 90 percent of what he said. He believes Im going to hell, so what are we talking about?
Blaze TV anchor Amy Holmes jumped in here to contest Lewis statement. I dont think those students would say that, she stated. Black and Holmes went back-and-forth arguing that point before Holmes called out Black for his intolerance:
HOLMES: Many of those students would say that it is not for them to decide, that they have accepted Jesus into their heart. But are you saying, that someone who is an open Christian, who wears their religion on their sleeve, shouldnt be President of the United States? That doesnt make sense!
BLACK: That isnt what I said.
WILMORE: Thats not what he said.
BLACK: That isnt even what I said! You took the joke and drove down a bad highway.
Actually, its pretty clear thats what Black did mean. The rest of the discussion confirmed Black and Wilmores anti-Christian bias as the bashing became more aggressive.
Larry Wilmore then went on to claim candidates like Scott Walker who wont answer questions from reporters about their belief or disbelief in human evolution shouldnt be eligible to run for President.
WILMORE: What is the problem there? I mean, why do you have to suck up to people who dont believe in the actual science of how the earth came to be, in order to be President?
HOLMES: Actually, a huge percentage of Americans believe in creationism, and creationism as how human beings came into this world.
WILMORE: And you want to suck up to those people to run for president, who believe the Earth is 6,000 years old?
HOLMES: What Im saying is, I think we need to have a little bit more respect at this table and in politics for people who are evangelical, who believe in creationism, and believe in a Biblically-based life.
This call for respect amazingly drew boos from the audience. Wilmore continued with his call for intolerance by saying, Someone whos making the most important decisions in the world should not believe the Earth is 6,000 years old. The audience cheered at this statement. Im sorry I dont have respect for that. I do not, he concluded.

..... Well you heard him ....... The Pope is a creationist so I guess Democrats do not respect the Pope .....
..... Hey ... two can play this game ..... just use logic on these critters and they will flee like roaches!
Tolerating EVIL is CRIMINAL !
The more I see of this crap the more I am convinced that Ted Cruz must be our Candidate.
Most Americans accept the fact that God created the Heavens and the Earth and that God is responsible for Creation.
When the Left pulls this kind of stuff, it will alienate most people who have even a token sense of religion.
In order to satisfy the left, you must believe that Man controls the climate and the the universe just happened to exist on it’s own with no God or supernatural cause.
On top of that you must be in favor of abortion and against capital punishment.
You must believe that the earth cannot sustain life on its present course, but you must also believe that illegal aliens from every corner of the third would should be imported by the millions so that our country has 600 million welfare recipients before the end of the next decade.
Has Cruz ever actually said he was a “young Earth” Creationist? I’ve never seen that anywhere except in accusations by the libtards. Has anyone seen any actual discussion of Cruz’s opinions on the subject?
Do not argue with idiots.
[ Has Cruz ever actually said he was a young Earth Creationist? Ive never seen that anywhere except in accusations by the libtards. Has anyone seen any actual discussion of Cruzs opinions on the subject? ]
Bingo! Creationists come in many flavors and types, some think the earth is 6,000 years old, some think the earth is 4,000,000,000 years old.
Some think God has a heavy hand in everything that happens, while some think he just kicked things off and only does a few minor things (for him) every now and then...
I believe we're electing a president of the United States, not the Dean of the Science Department.
It won't be hard - when properly identified most people hate 'em.
Why would anyone care what the President of the United States believes about evolution? That should not be a factor in governing responsibly (except that a real president who believes in God would be a whole lot better than a usurper who believes himself to be the final arbiter of morality and right).
Lewis Black is a vile and despicable human being. And not the least bit funny.
The notion that all who believe in a Creation by God are Young Earth Creationists is just plain silly.
Creationism can range all the way from believing that God pushed the button that initiated the Big Bang, and has stayed out of the way since, to the Young Earth types.
Something you never hear about in this regard. It is official government policy that the “Origin Stories” of Native Americans be treated with the utmost respect, despite the fact some of them are a lot sillier than the Genesis account. Jeering at them in this way could probably get you fired.
So on what basis is it OK to jeer at the beliefs of a much larger number of Americans? Why can’t we respect the beliefs of others?
I’m not a Young Earth Creationist, but I respect those who are.
Exactly right. Atheists have only racked up... 100 or 200 million murders?
But that's the "Progressive" way: shut out from the debate those with whom they disagree.
Where. Is the barf alert?
As someone posted: maybe every day was a billion years. As another critic of Sam Harris, the rabid atheist pointed out, he interprets the Bible more dogmatically and literally than 99% of Christian preachers.
There are even non-theistic "creationists", who look at the universe and see design, without any speculation as to who the designer is.
Has Ted Cruz every remarked on the age of the Earth?
Didn’t one DNC hack say that those who had religious convictions should not participate in the political process? It was during the Clinton administration.
The only proof the Huff Post gives that Cruz is (1) Religious and (2) he announced his run at the presidency at Liberty University which has a web site saying that they are young earthers.
It would be just as easy to do the reverse: “The universe just happened. Life just happened. People just happened.”
A man can’t help but wonder if they really think about what they’re saying.
Are they going to hell?
Not yet.
