Hysteria over Cruz illustrates what we're up against
American Thinker ^ | Lloyd Marcus

For crying out loud, Cruz simply trumpeted traditional principles and values that Americans have celebrated since the Republic's founding: American exceptionalism, liberty, freedom, hard work, God, and country.  The problem is that without even realizing it, many have succumbed to the left successfully tainting their thinking, lowering the nation's behavioral bar, and forcing political correctness down our throats.  So when a Ted Cruz comes along, his message sounds edgy to those hearing it for the first time.  And yet I believe that many will be drawn instinctively to it.

Why?  Because conservatism connects with our higher self/spirit.  It inspires people to be the best they can be.  That is what attracted me to conservatism.

Jesus said, “My sheep hear my voice...and follow me.”  Without a miracle, conservatism will not resonate with lazy deadbeats filled with class envy and hatred for achievers.  It is a foreign language to them.  All they care about is handouts and a free ride.  Let the Democrats continue pandering to them, the chickens and turtles.  Let's take the higher ground, striving to attract eagles that I believe are a majority of the American people.  This is why the left is so terrified of Cruz: he knows how to spread the good news of conservatism.

Folks, we must stop Obama's quest to diminish who we are, reducing us to a nation of part-time workers, dependent on and subservient to big government.  In the name of our founding fathers, we are Americans!  Let's act like it!

Both sides going nuts over Cruz's bold, upbeat, and inspiring articulation of conservatism illustrates what we are up against.  Even conservatives are saying Cruz is too this or not enough that.  Some conservatives feel that Cruz so boldly preaching conservatism on the big stage is a little embarrassing and scary,

"When a simple reference to God as the source of human rights causes screeches of denial you know you have a real problem. This is going to be a very ugly campaign season."

Even more telling is that references to God as the source of human rights appear in the Declaration of Independence, the speeches of JFK and MLK, and in countless other places throughout our history. They are taking a very mainstream sentiment and trying to make it appear radical and dangerous.

We conservatives need to gel early behind someone of principle so that we can take down the idiots and pissy class

"I do not know about you guys, but I am done with moderate Republican clone presidential nominees like McCain, Romney, Jeb Bush, and Christie. If I go down in defeat, I want to go down inspiring my fellow Americans to come up higher, fighting my butt off for liberty and freedom behind the likes of a Ted Cruz."

I emailed this article to my contacts with that line bolded, italicized and doubled in size.

This type of “conservative” has probably not come to terms with the fact they are not really conservatives but a CINO and more of a Party hack.

Reagan has his own spineless Republican party hacks and consultants to deal with as well who screamed, gripped and moaned all the time, tone it down, get along, you might hurt someone’s feelings or make them have to come to terms with their feelings and beliefs, can’t do that. To this Reagan’s supporters would say let Reagan be Reagan... Let Cruz be Cruz...

Same here.

I live in MA so my options are usually pretty nil but if neither Cruz or Walker are still on the ballot i will write in Ted Cruz.
ENOUGH of this BS!

Well, if “conservatives” think Cruz is a little embarrassing and scary; just wait until the next MODERATE takes over and continues on with the Obama agenda.

AND .. IT’S NOT CONSERVATIVES WHO THINK THIS WAY - IT’S THE MODERATE REPUBS - The John Boehner’s and McConnell’s of this world.

STOP allowing the media to quote moderates as “conservatives”.

what of all that sounds so extreme.

Inviting a substantive debate on any particular issue - something the left will attempt to avoid.

They are coming out strong against Cruz because they perceive Cruz as having the strong spine to stand up to out of control liberalism. My own previous favorite, Scott Walker, seems ready to cave on two anti-conservative programs already: ethanol and amnesty for illegal alienss.
