DAUPHIN COUNTY, PA Officer Lisa Mearkle turned herself in to state police to face a charge of criminal homicide in the killing of David Kassick. Shes a 14-year veteran of the Hummelstown Police Department.
Officer Mearkle, by all accounts, has been a distinguished member of the Hummelstown police department so this is certainly a tragedy all around. said Dauphin County District Attorney Ed Marsico.
A tragic ending for Kassick, who was 59. Mearkle tried to pull Kassick over for an expired inspection sticker on February 2nd. He took off and she chased him to his home in south Hanover Township. She shot him with a taser and he fell to the ground, face down. She ordered him to show his hands.

I’ve gotten about 10 tickets in 59 years of driving (one chargeable minor accident). I’ve never been asked to get out of my car nor has my car ever been searched. Cops often have an instinct re which cars to stop and which to search. IMO keys to avoiding confrontations with police are to stay in your vehicle, make no quick movements, and cooperate with police. But maybe I’ve been lucky.
It was just a sticker. She had his tag number, pick him up later. Go get a doughnut.
You don't understand.
CONFRONTATION, über alles...
Yeah but I hardly think it merits tasering AND shooting twice while on the ground on your stomach.
And it doesn’t address anything in my comments about female officers.
but there is a big arrogance with the police in general...like gestapo..."I'll stop you because I can"...
make everything a crime, and the cops can pick and choose when and who to go after...even for exp plates...
it is hardly nonsense.
the male officers that abuse their power don’t do it b/c they are in fear. many do it systematically and beat the crap out of someone deliberately targeted.
Here in NJ they had boxing as part of the State Police training (using the rationale that since most were in cars alone they had to physically protect themselves); they discontinued it when a female cadet was killed in the ring. Now I see “she-cops” with bubble-asses that couldn’t jog a block...
It is nuts, although when I grew up people thought it was a game. Kinda like dukes of hazard. Nobody got shot.
keys to avoiding confrontations
You forgot one thing, when the lights come on use the brake rather than the gas.
I believe it! All in the name of “inclusiveness and diversity”. These two fake idol gods get more people fired and killed everyday than terrorism.
Use of the taser was probably jusified, depending on what happened after he stopped and before he was tased. If he didn’t comply, she could give him another ride on the taser...till backup arrived
Overwhelmed chicks freaking out and killing people/pets is what we have to accept in the USSA.
The problem? “Sexual Harassment”. Not the ridiculous idea that they have no business pretending to be men.
Now, they’re Marines, submariners, infantry soldiers. Just waiting to sue for anything they find offensive.
Definitely; very dangerous. Couldn’t imagine how it plays out in the military as well.
