Big Diomede Island (between Russia and Alaska) is going to get a big jump in tourism. It’s the only stop between what would otherwise be a 50 mile long bridge.

Between the crazy Russian drivers and the Russian police, ZERO Americans would ever make it through that course alive.

The Russian Army took one look at the Russian Navy and demanded this.

They're the kinds of things you'd expect to see on the roads surrounding the Kennedy CompoundNow, THAT was funny.

How many gas stations would be needed and plug in for electric. What a joke.

Because of the weather I can't see this happening. Not in my lifetime. By the time it is finished it would have to be redone in many places because of weather. Also who would want to use it if it was built? Guess? This is someones pipe dream.

Try building 1,500 miles of four-lane highway from the end of the Kolyma Road to the easternmost tip of Siberia, and the infrastructure to support it and the traffic year-round, to anything resembling an acceptable standard to American or European users.
Then try extending the Trans-Siberian Railroad to link up with a new railway in Alaska. Differing gauges would be the least of problems.
Then try building the bridge itself to withstand the heaviest ice and coldest temperatures any bridge has been subjected to.
I can think of a hundred different hurdles before the first shovel goes into the ground.

Article makes me recall the Bob and Ray show sketch where they are interviewing the designer of the first Trans-Atlantic bridge... which had just opened for traffic, even though it had yet to be completed.
As they interviewed, every 15 seconds you would hear a car racing by in the background and then a splash.

I did an over 10,000 mile road trip a number of years ago. I did it in about three and a half weeks ... :-) ...

Darrien Straight.
60 miles of swamp with no roads in southern Panama.
Reportedly a guy crossed it once on a motorcycle.
Rokon Trailbreaker - two wheel drive, floats, wheels hubs are extra fuel tanks. Took him 30 days.

I bet 70% of it is drunk driving.
To: Faith-Hope
My thoughts exactly. Eventually we may have the technology to do it cheaply and make it safe cheaply as well. But not yet.
It would be interesting as a cargo highway with all unmanned vehicles.

Sure, let’s build a bridge for Putin to drive his tanks directly into Alaska! That will work out well for us...
