Most American Jewish people are urban Yankees.
They vote like urban Yankees, excepting Orthodox.
Is it your opinion that to most American Jews, Obama’s policies towards Israel is not among their top issues when they vote?
“American Jews” is not a terribly useful demographic group, at least for political purposes. It contains both the late Aaron Zelman and the execrable Chuck Schumer. It is difficult to imagine two people more diametrically opposed ... yet they’re both “American Jews”.
They vote like urban Yankees, excepting Orthodox.
And I think therein lies the problem. I have read several articles which argue that Urban life skews people's perspective towards Liberal statist thinking.
MOST people who live in Urban areas vote Liberal. If you look at a county by county map of the last two Presidential elections, you quickly realize that the rural areas went Republican by large percentages, while the Urban areas voted Democrat.
A Jewish friend of mine told me that there are Religious Jews, and Social Jews. He said the Religious tend to be Conservative/ Orthodox and vote accordingly, while the Social Jews are everything else and vote all over the map except Republican.
Does that match up with what you see?
