American Jews are anything but monolithic in opinion. The first great conservative leader of postwar America was also the only major party nominee of Jewish descent: Barry Goldwater. During the Cold War, individual American Jews made enormous contributions to the cause of liberty.
Admiral Rickover almost single-handedly created the most effective part of our Triad Defense System: nuclear submarines. Morris Childs, the highest-ranking FBI agent in the Communist Party USA, provided our government with priceless intelligence collected within the Kremlins inner sanctum, knowing that if caught he would be tortured to death. AT contributor Herb Meyer, when in the Reagan CIA, was the first man to fully embrace bloodless but total victory against the Evil Empire.
Milton Friedman articulated free-market benevolence as well as anyone in the twentieth century, and Ayn Rand, with literary genius and an incisive, uncompromising mind, made the case for Libertarianism in ways that connect to young people as well as any other thinker has in the last fifty years.
It remains, however, a stubborn and frustrating fact that a preponderance of American Jews feel sympathy with American leftism. The origin of this sympathy has never been rational and has been, instead, an emotional reaction to the perception of American conservatism.
Consider social conservatism. This is almost invariably portrayed by the left as crazy Christians, yet true Christian social conservatism rests entirely upon Judaism. It is the left that rejects the inestimable gift of traditional Jewish morality, and it is the right that embraces that gift.

A Jewish friend of mine told me that there are Religious Jews, and Social Jews. He said the Religious tend to be Conservative/ Orthodox and vote accordingly, while the Social Jews are everything else and vote all over the map except Republican.
Does that match up with what you see?
Yes, but you confused the terminology a bit.
There are many forms of Judaism: Re-constructionist, Reform, Conservative, Conservodox/Modern Orthodox, Orthodox (and Orthodox in several flavors — Yeshiva to Hasidic).
Politically and theologically, the Re-constructionist and Reform are the most liberal.
Conservative is middle (depends where you are), leaning heavily conservative because of Zionist reasons
Conservadox onward are orthodox in both religion and politics.
Thank you for correcting me. We had the conversation about 10 years ago, so I knew I was a bit fuzzy on the exact terms.
Answer: NO
They are LEFTIST FIRST and Jews second.
Israel is a very leftist country in many ways, yet the left hates them
Some.
what really stands out about you is that you are such a quick trigger to condemn, not even ideas, but people
such an attitude is “COMMONLY” a side effect of pride
.
I have no idea what you’re talking about, but if it puffs you up to normal, I guess its OK.
.
Probably true. But I wouldn’t trust anything from anti-torah Roman Sword worshipers on the Iranian and PLO payroll.
Orthodox Jews are maybe 10%, with maybe another 10% with an affinity for orthodoxy.
There are some Jews from each place across the spectrum who put a high priority on Israel.
Traditional (and other) Jews cherish the Land of Israel and may be more cynical about the secular government there than most imagine.
They evidence is in. The question has been answered over and over. Only a minority of American Jews believe American political arrangements make much difference to the State of Israel.
According to a 2013 NY Slimes article, of the 2.2% of Americans who are Jews,
"...Reform Judaism remains the largest American Jewish movement, at 35 percent. Conservative Jews are 18 percent, Orthodox 10 percent, and groups such as Reconstructionist and Jewish Renewal make up 6 percent combined. Thirty percent of Jews do not identify with any denomination..."
