Ted Cruz announced his candidacy for president via Twitter a couple hours ago and will follow up in person later today. I've stepped aboard with a quick $25 donation. I challenge Freepers to match my donation and help give Ted Cruz a strong start to his campaign.

Even if you are not sure you who you will support, I think $25 is a worthy statement to say Go! as we officially see the 2016 presidential campaign get underway. Personally, I'm not all in for Cruz just yet, but think a positive anti-GOPe start is critically important.
So what do you say? How about $25 to say Yes to Cruz and No to GOPe?

I have heard that you can donate up to $50 anonymously to a candidate. I wonder how you’d do that

Not legally, if I recall correctly. As outline on the donation page (pretty standard text), when you donate you must certify that it is your own personal funds and that you are a US citizen or legal resident. You may directly donate to a candidate up to $2,700 during the primary and $2,700 more during the general election. Bigger amounts need to go to/through other routes.
If you are looking for anonymity, past FEC reports and most tracking Web sites do not report individual donations under $250. Once you donate more than $250, it becomes more public.
I make no secret of my donation.

Done! I threw my 25 bucks into the ring too. Not a fortune . . . but I think you’re right; we need to show we’re behind Cruz so the Big Money will feel comfortable giving him larger sums.

I know that our host supports Senator Cruz, but to date, the only fundraising that has ever been allowed on FR, as far as I know, has been to support the forum.

I remember in 2012 there were multiple “moneybomb” posts/threads for x candidate, which had links and charted progress from the candidates site...Should be okay.

Why can't I just mail a check? I don't feel comfortable giving out all this info over the internet, especially my phone number. I don't want to be bombarded with robo calls from his campaign and everyone else’s. It's why I gave up my home phone.

On any webpage meant to be secure (such as donation pages), be sure that the link has the ‘s’ at the end of the ‘http’. Sorry, I tend to be meticulous about security.
