RUSH: Investors.com is the source for the story that Obamacare premiums are jumping 23% this year, even after subsidies. "President Obama has talked a lot in recent months about how health care inflation has moderated in recent years, and he always manages to credit Obamacare for the result.

CALLER: I wanted to mention that it's amazing right now that tens of thousands of STEM educated Americans, Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, computer science folks and all this are being laid off by Microsoft, by different companies, and are having to retrain their --
RUSH: Ho, ho, ho, ho, hold on just a minute here. I'm confused because I have been under the impression that people like Microsoft and Facebook and Google have been asking for more H-1B visas so they can get more people immigrated to the country who are highly educated in math and technology and so forth, the STEM types, and you're telling me that they're laying them off?

Whats the pay for a hi tech gig in Injuh?
This started just after Obama made a Visit
About 50-60% of US pay. So if the US guy works for $120K, then 60K or so. You really don’t save that much any more.

cheaper, same for picking grapes
What I don’t understand is, the two callers both said they’re being “made” to train their replacements?
Nobody could make me train my replacement, or more likely, if I did, none of what I “taught” them would actually work...
Damned Americans think they are in a union or something.
If they want their severance pay, they train their replacements.
This proves unequivocally that the claim that there is a labor shortage of high tech workers is a lie....and that the subsequent need for H1B visa workers is also a lie.
If there is a shortage of workers, why would you lay off qualified employees who are currently doing those high tech jobs adequately?
“...Nobody could make me train my replacement”...
“...If they want their severance pay, they train their replacements...”

Been there, done that.
It sux.
because they train the H1b and ship them home to be paid $500/mon for the work
there is no tax incentive that can save US corporations more then they save by off-shoring the labor cost.
There is a shortage. I have six open positions for c# developers and application architects. It is a real challenge finding talent these days.
If he did, he could have signed on to the recently introduced H1-B Visa Immigration Innovation (I-Squared) bill, introduced by Sens. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), Jeff Flake (R-AZ), Marco Rubio (R-FL), Amy Klobuchar (D-MN), Chris Coons (D-DE), and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT). If he was for an increase in the H1-B visas, he would have done so, he did not.
HATCH, RUBIO, FLAKE CO-SPONSOR BILL TO INCREASE H-1B GUEST-WORKER VISAS
NOW WHAT ABOUT YOUR BLUE DOG REPUBLICAN GOVERNOR, SCOTT WALKER, HEADLINING THE CHAMBER OF AMNESTY IN ARIZONA?
You know, the same Arizona Chamber of Commerce that was pimping the Gang of 8's amnesty bill not too long ago. (Ahem).
Yeah, this is largely BS.
Most companies like mine have variable resource needs. When projects are in full swing, maybe I need to ramp up my resources by 20%. I have two choices: hire more domestic resources or get contractors. Let’s put aside the fact that it takes me months to find qualified domestic resources right now. (Months!) If I hired them, I’d have to fire *someone* during the ebb. Since business does not have tenure and is a day to day meritocracy, I’d keep only the best, which means anyone is at risk.
By using contractors for this variable capacity need, it’s actually job security for my full timers. When the ebb comes, the contractors flow out.
Now, when it comes to contractors, you typically give them the grunt work. Which would I rather do - pay $90/hr for a domestic contract coder, or <$30/hr for an Indian one? Given the fact I’ll be giving that resource grunt work, I’ll take the $30/hr resource please.
Bear in mind I have 6 full time positions open which will take me months to fill. There is a massive shortage of good coders.
Why not show us what you’re talking about. Go ahead and post a link to the job listings you have open, or maybe post six different links. It would be great to take a look at the six open positions.
Let’s see them. Thanks!
So, won’t I won’t do is publicly provide information that identifies myself on this forum. In case you haven’t noticed, liberals are Nazis who live to destroy lives. You can be certain they’d flip back through my posting history, take something out of context, and try to create some kind of friction for me at work in an effort to make me lose my job. As an executive, I’d like to avoid that.
However, if you are a developer, and have an interest in a position, you can Freepmail me. I can’t guarantee we’d hire you, though. I have a very talented team and we only hire well-qualified candidates. But for the right person, we’ve got a fantastic work environment!
Fixed. Pay more you will get people.
So what pay are you offering?
