Using language that once kept open gays out of the military, the commanding officer of the Navy Nuclear Power Training Command is using identical language to remove a Christian Chaplain from his duties.
The Commander says certain kinds of Christian teachings are harmful to “unit cohesion” and “military readiness.”
In a sharply-worded memo, Modder’s commander denied his request for a “religious accommodation” in a disciplinary process that has relieved him of his command and could kick him out of the Navy forever. Modder stands accused of homophobia and insensitivity–though, in the official documents, the term is “substandard performance”–which could trump all the accolades he has received in almost 20 years of service and throw his professional life into ruin.
The commander said his decision was based on “military readiness, unit cohesion, health, safety, morale, good order, discipline, and mission accomplishment.” Further, he said, “Your ability to express your religious beliefs during pastoral counseling has not been restricted or substantially burdened.”
Modder’s commander also charges him with not being sensitive. “Under the core capability of ‘care’ you have the duty to be sensitive to the religious, spiritual, moral, cultural, and personal differences of those you serve.”
His commander said Modder did not properly “comfort” those who came to him for counseling.
Lieutenant Commander Wesley Modder has ministered to Navy personnel under fire in Iraq and Afghanistan, including the Navy SEALs, and has received uniformly glowing reviews from his superiors. Until the recent controversy, Modder’s commander had him on the “early promote” list.
A junior officer who worked temporarily in Modder’s office recently brought formal charges against him. The junior officer, who did not identify himself to Chaplain Modder as either “gay” or “married” to another man, accused Modder of denigrating homosexuality and sex outside of marriage.

Jim, no chaplain is required to be ‘sensitive’ to the “differences” of others when counseling. They are required to be representatives true to their denomination. To call a sin a sin to a counselee is absolutely within the bounds of the Assembly of God.
This chaplain definitely needs his denomination through their endorsing agency to issue a statement.
He has advanced Alzheimers now. He would be broken hearted to see what the chaplaincy has become.
It’s not a military for Christians. Let the gay atheists run the joint and see how far they go before they cry uncle.

God created man and women uniquely compatible and complimentary, and they alone are joined by God in marriage, with opposite genders being specified by both Genesis and personally by Jesus Christ. (Gn. 2:18-24; Mt. 19:4)
The Bible only condemns homosexual relations - by design and decree, in principle and by precept - and never sanctions them wherever they are manifestly dealt with, and the injunctions against them are part of the transcendent and immutable moral law. (Lv. 18:22; Rm. 1:26,27)
However, some of the first Christians were likely former homosexuals, (1Cor. 6:9-11) and there is room at the cross for all who want the Lord Jesus over sin, and believe upon Him to save them who died for them, and rose again. And who thus are baptized and follow Him, to the glory of God.
Well Isaiah 5:20 comes to mind with this turn around.
"Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" (Isaiah 5:20)
FWIW I am now retired from the Army and now employed as a civilian grey beard instructor. Even with this negative news the men and women in our military are still top notch. They need our prayers to endure the PC senior leadership kowtow to their political masters.
And don't think the political lackies of the emperor were trying to avoid this. They were looking for the right opportunity to snap the Chaplain Corps into step.

The definition of tolerance for the homosexual lobby machine is different than what was originally 'preached' by them and others.
Tolerance means you have a view, I have a view we do not come to an accord or agreement and respect each other's views and depart peacefully. That is really what tolerance is.
The homosexual lobby started out 20-25 years ago with promoting tolerance but really meaning 'acceptance.' Phase I of acceptance was to use propaganda to influence fence sitters (moderates) that being gay is ok, that gays are not a danger to children or the public etc. That prepped the American public for the next phase. Most good people did not pay attention and said "hey live and let live."
Once the above 'voluntary' acceptance bait hook sunk in, we saw Phase III, a shift in tactics (very much Alinsky type) from this 'passive' live and let live acceptance to indoctrination and forced acceptance. The schools and federal agencies were first to implement the indoctrination and now forced acceptance.
Now we are entering phase IV which is legalization of forced acceptance. Which now leads to prosecution/persecution of anyone or any group in dissent of the homosexual lobby and laws supporting it.

I guess the first question is why would a homosexual go to a AoG chaplain to get spiritual counseling...unless they were seeking advice on repentance.
I know in the Army if a homosexual approaches a chaplain for ‘homosexual marriage’ counseling and the chaplain opposes such, they are referred elsewhere. There are so many other family life trained chaplains and mental health and secular counseling on a military installation.
Of course we lack some critical information in this case which I hope his legal counsel can reveal to the public.
Plus as you know all ‘bets are off’ when someone asks another service member regardless to rank, or MOS their beliefs. At that point it is answering a question and not preaching.
This stinks chaplain.
