Black students at UC Berkeley often feel isolated and even oppressed, says a campus group that wants the nations premier public university to step up recruitment of African American students and improve support for them.
So the Black Student Union hammered out 10 demands, delivered them to the chancellor, and set a deadline to meet them.
The demands include renaming a building after Assata Shakur, a former Black Panther and the first woman on the FBIs list of Most Wanted Terrorists.
To the students, Shakur is no terrorist. Shes a victim and ally who gives voice to their pain.
The students call Shakur an icon of resistance within oppressed communities (who) represents Black resilience in the face of unadulterated state-sanctioned violence.
Cori McGowens told The Chronicle that trying to excel academically is immensely difficult while coping with the issue of antiblackness on campus.

...’you will know them by their heros’...
“The Bell Curve” When they apply the
AA to the NBA,NFL, etc, then I will think on it.
I love that this is happening at Berkeley.
That would be ‘happening in Bezerkley.
Elaine Brown is a dude...!!!
Yea...da be way to much "antiblackness" goes on in dis country... We is here to puts a stop to dat..!
“That would be happening in Bezerkley.”
You’re exactly right. Thanks for the reminder.
“Help Help I’m being repressed.”
But not a RACE CRIME!!
Nor a hate crime as they ‘had’ white friends and even dated whites...
I wonder how many previously, very liberal UCal-Berkeley administrators held their heads in their hands after reading the latest black screed and wished they’d never recruited even one of the perpetual whiners and troublemakers?
the sad thing is that none of these kids no what institutionalized racism looks like. I grew up in the 70s at the very biter end of institutionalized racism. and even with that the difference between the 50s and 70s from what I know are radically different. so in a way I don’t personally no myself. what needs to happen is that some elderly black people need to explain to all these kids the difference between racism and life not being fair all the time. it is crazy something bad happens and the first thing you hear is that it is because of racism granted sometimes it is racism but today most times it is not. what I see as the biggest problem right now is the racism within the black community. ask any person that is not black how fearful it is to have car problems in downtown Detroit or saint Luis. the fear is not because they are racist it is because those communities are racist against anyone who is not black that is in there community,
Oh...yeah that’s great.
“A person born in America, descendant of American slavery, has enjoyed a lifestyle that is better than 99.8% of all humans that have ever lived, Not only is your life BETTER than it would have been than if you lived in Western Africa, the COLD fact is, you would not exist at ALL had it never been for the abomination that was slavery.”
That concurs with the opinion of a black man, who just happened to be the Washington Post’s Africa correspondent.
The book is “Out of America, A Black Man Confronts Africa,” by Keith Richburg. Very interesting reading (if you can still find it.) Essentially, he was sick of see mutilated bodies of Tutsi floating by on the Kagera River at one minute intervals. Lots of insight on the warlords and kleptocracies etc. Highly recommended.
It’s Bezerkley. The white liberals there can go suck it.
Everyone knows that if it weren’t for affirmative action most of the black students at UCB would be in community college. Any wonder they feel they are the least respected on campus?
The BEST RESPONSE would be to end quotas and other preferences for that bunch - then NOT NEARLY AS MANY PEOPLE would feel victimized by the racism they claim prevails.
If these undereducated, spoiled American black students think that they are in a “hostile environment”, then why don’t we deport them to northern Nigeria, or the Sudan, or Saudi Arabia?
Then they would learn what a truly “hostile environment” is really like.
But make their visas a one-way job. Let them get what they wish for, in spades, which would be used to bury their sorry asses.
I am pretty sure it is about micro-aggressions or white privilege, whatever the new leftist whine in new bottles is.
