Meanwhile, the mainstream media are at a loss for words. They had expected Netanyahu to lose, perhaps even by a wide enough margin to put Herzog in the pole position to form a new government. They had expected economic issues to trump security issues, which were Netanyahu’s focus. And they expected far stronger Arab turnout (as did Netanyahu).
The real loser is President Barack Obama, who undoubtedly hoped for a poor showing by Netanyahu. And the even bigger loser is the Iranian regime, who will now face an emboldened Israeli leader who made the case for his re-election on the grounds of strong public opposition to the generous terms of the nuclear deal that Obama is negotiating with Iran.
The most important immediate consequence of the election is that Netanyahu’s defense minister, Moshe “Bogey” Ya’alon, is likely to retain his post. A thorn in the side of Secretary of State John Kerry, whom he called “messianic,” Ya’alon is one of the few military planners in the western world with a grasp on the strategic realities of the Middle East. He has been a counsel of patience for Netanyahu, advising him not to waste resources on Hamas while Iran still looms as the enemy.
Yet the importance of his victory cannot be diminished. It is the biggest media surprise since “Dewey Defeats Truman”–a remarkable feat in today’s environment of big data, big media and big money.

Just now on Mark Levin's radio show the statemenmt was made that the State Department made a grant to an opposition group to help them get out the Arab vote.

They use two envelopes, one inside the other. The outside envelope identifies you and the inside envelope have your vote. Once they have clear you ... you have to have ID and you have to be in the right polling place (no changes), then they will take your inside envelope and put it into the votes. If you don’t clear, then your vote is thrown out!

We won’t know the results until the official results are released. So far these are Exit Polls and I know how they can be real tricky. The other side hasn’t conceded and they’re talking like they can form the new government. SO, I would wait to see who gets tasked with forming the new government ... :-) ...

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared victory after the first exit polls released following Tuesday’s elections showed the Likud ahead of, or tied with, the Zionist Union.
Netanyahu wrote on his Facebook page: “Against all odds, a great victory for the Likud, for the nationalist camp led by the Likud, and for the people of Israel.”
The numbers for Netanyahu’s Likud were better than expected after pre-election polls had showed him trailing Isaac Herzog’s Zionist Union by as much as five mandates.
The Zionist Union rejected conjecture that the results of the exit polls show that Netanyahu will form the next coalition.
“The Likud continues to err. The right-wing bloc has gotten smaller. Everything is open until the final results are in and we will know which parties passed the electoral threshold and what kind of government we can form. All of the spin and the commentary is too early. We have formed a negotiating team with the goal of putting together a coalition led by Herzog.”
