Back in our early monarchical days of the 17th century, English kings were unimpeachable. However, their ministers certainly were, and a couple of them were hanged for high crimes. Many were booted from office.

Having learned the lessons of history, our Framers wisely determined the chief executive and his assistants in a new American republic could be impeached and tried by the supreme legislative power, congress.

We have regressed to a pre-Enlightenment situation. For practical purposes, not only is the chief executive immune from congressional trial and felony prosecution, but so are his ministers.

Just as mold thrives in moist and still air, the atmosphere of the executive branch is fetid. This administration is the perfect breeding ground for high corruption and crimes. Until sunlight returns, our slide into increasingly hard tyranny is assured.
