Once those workers who happen to work in an establishment where tips are paid AREN’T getting tips anymore, they are in for a rude awakening with respect to their now-W2 income taxed and that which they ALWAYS underreported on TIPS.

They got what they wanted. Live with it.

Where is this communist edict written in any constitution that the government shall set prices for labor instead of having a free market?

The real minimum wage is $0.00.

Libs don't want to figure that out.

See Venezuela. Collectivists don’t care about the consequences, and changing course is not an option.

The remaining 4 percent has been the profit margin

Pass this on to your local skulls full of mush.

When these full service restaurants raise their menu prices to offset the additional costs of labor, I wonder if anyone has taken a poll amongst those who no longer frequent these establishments as to why they don’t go there any longer? IMO, libs have a high tolerance for spending other peoples money but when it comes to their own, they have deep pockets.

And for the waiters who manage to keep their jobs, the tips (which can be extraordinary!) will plummet. Jackasses.

The Seattle government will be ecstatic. Now they will have more drones as a voting constituency and fully dependent on government handouts.

And like Obamacare and workers over 30 hours @ week, what did they think would happen?
They hire and limit hours to 30 and they lay off restaurant workers.

The future of casual restaurants is going to be no waiters. As in place your order from an iPad type thing///// find a table////// Pick up your order at the counter/////

This will apply to couples and large families and everyone else

I guess the pointy head Liberals just ran full speed in to the wall of unintended consequences. It was so predictable and they'd alredy seen what had happened when SeaTac Airport did this and its fallout. Stupid is as stupid does.

I grew up in NY and often ate at a local chop house where our waiter, Stoney, served us for all of those years. He put a couple of kids through college and he and his wife lived a comfortable life finally retiring to FL. He is gone, may he RIP, but unfortunately so are those days. I have no idea what his “salary” was but I do know that he was loved by his customers and was tipped accordingly.

A 6% increase is closing down restaurants? 36% to 42% labor increase? So a $10.00 entree now is $10.60. Sucks but not earth shattering. Something else is going on here.
