Obama, at Selma Memorial, Says, We Know the March Is Not Over Yet By PETER BAKER and RICHARD FAUSSET MARCH 7, 2015
SELMA, Ala. As a new generation struggles over race and power in America, President Obama and a host of political figures from both parties came here on Saturday, to the site of one of the most searing days of the civil rights era, to reflect on how far the country has come and how far it still has to go.
Fifty years after peaceful protesters trying to cross a bridge were beaten by police officers with billy clubs, shocking the nation and leading to passage of the landmark Voting Rights Act of 1965, the nations first African-American president led a bipartisan, biracial testimonial to the pioneers whose courage helped pave the way for his own election to the highest office of the land.
But coming just days after Mr. Obamas Justice Department excoriated the police department of Ferguson, Mo., as a hotbed of racist oppression, even as it cleared a white officer in the killing of an unarmed black teenager, the anniversary seemed more than a commemoration of long-ago events on a black-and-white newsreel. Instead, it provided a moment to measure the countrys far narrower, and yet stubbornly persistent, divide in black-and-white reality.

March is not over-—still early in the month, eheheh.
Enough of this ‘marching for rights’ crap. Thats been mission over-accomplished. Put it to bed already.
RULE#1:
Stop marching to to hip-hop; rap; drugs; gang-banging; single fatherhood; high school drop-outs, welfare; quotas, and crime, and throw out the Jesse Jackson and Al Sharptons.
I wish he would go away he is so irritating like a bad rash or worse.
Always the RACIST TROUBLEMAKER. And that’s just for starters.
Yes, a couple of more “million man” marches will do it.
I wish he would March his @$$ right over to the Atlantic Coast and keep right on marching. He is a Marxist, Islamist, black racist.
When is this Selma thing over anyway?!!!
yeah like other things he managed to make it about him..
and it was John Lewis did this and John Lewis did that until I thought he would say that John Lewis said that he had a dream...
he listed a few unknown people he said walked over the bridge starting with John Lewis and added Dr King on way at the end as an extra amongst the “and others”
That would never happen as long as the race hucksters stand to profit.
“This nation’s long racial history still casts its long shadow upon us. We know the march is not yet over, the race is not yet won,” Obama said.
Yes he is a nasty piece of work.
I wonder if he bothered to tell them that Democrats opposed the equal rights amendment while Republicans voted in favor of it.
Where are they Marching?
Is there a Popeye’s near by?
‘nother 50 years?
MLK would probably be appaled by the state of Black future in America.
March on...to the 10th tee?
Once a community organizer still a community organizer. I wish we had a real president!
This shows clearly the basic belief that blacks are monolithic according to their race and that whites also are monolithic. To judge an individual or the truth of an incident, all you need to know are the races of those involved. Theo Bilbo would be proud that his classifications are still valid today though not quite in the way he had demanded.
50 years from now they will march on Ferguson.
... Sadly .... now they can only see something to loot and pillage in the name of reparations and fairness because of events that happened so long ago.
.... Unfortunately ... that looting and destruction of the system will only end after what is left of the other peoples loot .... as well as the nation ..... is all gone.
