"Rinky-dink" Scott Walker’s Secret Weapon
Slate ^ | March 5, 2015 | etsy Woodruff

Posted on 03/06/2015 12:22:52 AM PST by Cincinatus' Wife

MADISON, Wisconsin—Scott Walker loves the haters. In recent years as Wisconsin has moved further to the right, the mild-mannered preacher’s son has become in the eyes of his opponents an icon of all that is evil—and he seems to relish it. On the stump, the governor is fond of talking up the fact that he’s “the No. 1 target in America of the labor unions and many others on the left,” and the hecklers that seem willing to follow him to the ends of the Earth give him a chance to flex his conservative muscles. They feed the perception that in Wisconsin, it was Walker against the world, and Walker won....

..The Wisconsin Senate will vote to pass the new right-to-work bill either late Thursday or early Friday morning, and then the legislation will head for the governor’s desk where Walker will sign his name and add another item to his list of conservative wins....

... without having a statehouse full of allies, it would have been impossible for Walker to distinguish himself from the growing field of potential 2016 contenders.

Republican governors in blue states are typically hamstrung by their legislatures. Walker’s Legislature, to his great fortune, has propelled him. He has become the public face of a state government that is predominantly and combatively conservative. Walker’s success is an important reminder that hundreds of tiny, inexpensive state legislative elections that get zero national media attention can be the difference between being a nobody governor with a rinky-dink profile and being within spitting distance of your party’s presidential nomination.

Surprise, when he does another PRO-AMNESTY Deal for UNIONS to collect dues from all those "NEW" Workers, who'll work for less wages than the current workers.

Clearly, you are an idiot.

Walker wants it easier for LEGAL immigrants who want to work here to get through our immigration system.

What you CONVENIENTLY left out of that interview is his saying that he does not support amnesty for the illegals.

Nice try twisting words and citing liberal sources. How much is the Jeb campaign paying you to post LIES?

YOU are the problem.....you call yourself a conservative and then fall for liberal bait like this that twists words and posts headlines meant to divide us.

Walker is very strong on immigration....if you would take the time to see his actions and words......and not the liberal headlines.

Genius, your FIRST premise is that he is funneling money to unions via dues paying amnesty aliens.

How is that going to happen when Wisconsin a right to work state?

How is that going to happen when he blocked sanctuary cities and opposed amnesty at every opportunity?

You are so blind that it amazes me you have been on FR this long and can post stupidity like this.

If you are a Cruz supporter, you are not helping him by acting this dumb.

I first became aware of Scott Walker in 2010 when he survived that attempted recall & afterward the “Crying Man” wailed before the cameras that democracy was dead in America.

No, Crying Man, democracy was powerfully revived that night.

Walker was a major force in Wisconsin politics before anybody ever heard of Priebus.

I would say that unless we want to see a demographic transformation of our country into something most of us wouldn't recognize, then we need to put a stop to illegal and legal immigration.

This is no longer a wide open frontier and we have a population adequate to do the work of the nation.

Walker (March 1, 2015): My View Has Changed on Amnesty

Furthermore, there is nothing wrong with advocating "A Path for Citizenship". This country has had a path for citizenship since its founding. It's in the Constitution. The problem is the Justice Department that has not been enforcing the laws and our borders.

Cruz is for the legalization of those already here:

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/13/us/cruz-tries-to-claim-the-middle-ground-on-immigration.html?pagewanted=all

Snippet from the article:

What has not been as evident is what “he supports: legal status for millions of people here already, while making it easier for immigrants to come here through the front door”.
