Rubio is popular, but in his home state he is taking a back seat to Bush vs. Walker, Kaplan said. Even among Hispanics, Bush takes 24 percent, Walker 23 percent and Rubio, a Cuban-American, comes in third with 11 percent -- roughly his same level of support across the states Republicans in an open field.
A new poll shows Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is running in a dead heat with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush in the Sunshine State as the 2016 presidential race looms.
Gravis Marketing released its poll of Florida Republicans this week, which finds Bush ahead with 23 percent but Walker right on his heels with 22 percent. U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., places third with 11 percent followed by former Gov. Mike Huckabee, R-Ark., with 10 percent. Huckabee moved to Florida after his 2008 presidential bid.
Dr. Ben Carson, who also moved to Florida recently, placed fifth with 8 percent. Gov. Chris Christie, R-N.J., takes 6 percent followed by U.S. Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky. Two Texas Republicans lag behind: U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz takes 2 percent while former Gov. Rick Perry pulls 1 percent. An eighth of those surveyed -- 12 percent -- remain undecided.
Doug Kaplan, the managing partner of Gravis Insights, said he expected the contest to come down to Bush and Walker.
We are seeing the early stages of a two-man horse race between Bush and Walker, Kaplan said. Bush vs. Walker is ... inside the margin of error.
Kaplan was not as high on Rubios chances, even though he ran close to Bush when the contest came down to just the two of them. In that scenario, Bush takes 40 percent while Rubio gets 36 percent.

President Barack Obama is toxic for Florida Republicans with only 16 percent of them approving of him while 79 percent disapprove of him.
The poll of 513 Florida Republicans was taken from Feb. 24-25 and had a margin of error of +/- 4 percent.
I'm predicting Walker will be the Republican candidate. God willing.
Absolutely. And even more important if a conservative is dragging ass in the cellar...they need to get out early and throw support behind one of the other conservatives. If Walker all of the sudden tanks in the polls or shows he can’t win an early primary...he needs to get out and throw support behind a conservative.
I think that’s a true sign of the politician...if they lose and back someone like Jeb we know they are RINOs and only in it for power.
Looks like it still isn’t in concrete.

My prediction is that Rubio will be an early dropout. If he can't read that handwriting on the wall, it won't matter.
Why would anyone who opposes the invasion from south of the border even consider Rubio for anything?
He has already betrayed the citizens once with his Gang’s amnesty bill last year.
You want to give him another chance to stab you in the back?
“Dear God, please keep me away from any these 16% as they are dangerous, delusional and short a few fries.”
Seventeen ounces short of having a pound of brains if you ask me.
It boils down to money - if it starts drying up now, it’s a very long shot.
Thank you! My old stomping grounds (should have thought of them) - the Green Papers.
I appreciate the info!
Do you think the powers that be are waiting to see if Jeb Bush can “catch fire” in TX and FL?
I agree, Cruz/Walker would be a great ticket.
Add to that the possibility that, given current polling trends, Walker could actually win the nomination.
With Cruz bringing up the VP slot - assuming Walker is so inclined - this could be the ticket we've long sought. This is reason for hope...
One could liken him
Just got my first email from Jeb's campaign. Clicking "unsubscribe" didn't cost me a dime.
They could learn faster from those than anything else; but you're right, it will probably be money. The good news is that if Walker starts out-polling Jeb in Floriduh this early and without having spent a dime, the money people will know he's a bad bet.
Late (considering the number of replies already) ping to a poll showing Walker catching Bush in Florida and ahead of Rubio.
FReep Mail me if you want on, or off, this Wisconsin interest ping list.
Great news for Walker! Cruz has good news too...he is beating Perry at least.
It is very early to look for a running mate for anyone. I got an email from Cruz asking for money as he only had 18 hours to meet some goal. I requested they not email me. I have not received any request from Walker for money.
