In 2012, congressional investigators asked the State Department for a wide range of documents related to the attack on the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya. The department eventually responded, furnishing House committees with thousands of boxes of records and emails.
But it turns out that that was not everything.
The State Department had not searched the email account of former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton because she had maintained a private account, which shielded it from such searches, department officials acknowledged on Tuesday.
It was only last month that the House committee appointed to investigate Benghazi was provided with about 300 of Mrs. Clinton’s emails related to the attacks. That was shortly after Mrs. Clinton turned over, at the State Department’s request, some 50,000 pages of government-related emails that she had kept on her private account.
It was one of several instances in which records requests sent to the State Department, which had no access to Mrs. Clinton’s emails, came up empty.
n 2013, Nitasha Tiku, then a reporter for Gawker, filed a Freedom of Information Act request, seeking all correspondence on Mrs. Clinton’s private email account between her and Sidney Blumenthal, a onetime staff member in the Clinton White House. Some of those emails had already spilled into public view and been reported in the news media. But the State Department told Gawker that it could find no records responsive to the request, Gawker reported.
Mrs. Clinton’s aides on Tuesday sought to play down the significance of her exclusive use of a personal email account for State Department business. But an examination of records requests sent to the department reveals how the practice protected a significant amount of her correspondence from the eyes of investigators and the public.

I think we are seeing a movement against Hillary, similar to what happened in 2008 when she was derailed on her way to her coronation then.
The same factions that did not want her as the Dem nominee then are probably not wanting her as the nominee now.
[Dems don’t really have the ‘his/her turn’ like the Pubbies do. Recall that the Clintons came on the national political scene almost as a fluke. He ran and even the Clintons were shocked that Bill won the nomination and the presidency.]

Summary : "Look, let's just do whatever we feel like doing." What are they gonna do if we also own the Justice Department, the IRS, the Army, the Air Force, the Navy, 58 National Guard units, the Coast Guard and the FBI?
Who are they gonna get to indict us?
Who can they send to arrest us?
The Clintons invented the brazen and bold improbable political coup, AND GOT AWAY WITH IT!

It’s like the billing records that were found in the bedroom at the White House when she and Bill were co-president.
I thought it was ILLEGAL to use private email for government correspondence. That’s what I was told, AND HAD FO SIGN AN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT when I worked for the Dept of the Navy.
The NYT and other news outlets are strangling her campaign in the crib to get "their" candidate ready....whoever that may be.
The NYT and other outlets are doing "hit pieces" now so when it is campaign time, she can fall back on the tried and true Clinton defense of "this is old news."
Elizabeth Warren will be the Rat candidate, IMHO.

That’s exactly the way they operated when living in the Governor’s mansion in Little Rock AR.
Big freeway ran in front of the place and mainly black neighborhood right across the freeway. Folks had couches and chairs on their front porches to watch what happened at the mansion during the frequent parties.
The Clintons regularly had rock bands and lots of alcohol and drugs at their parties. In warm weather, observers often watched people staggering around on the front lawn, falling down, having sex, etc.
The fact she did this ought to sink here campaign right now. But these immoral unethical politicians seem to have more lives than a cat.
No I think they are airing the dirty laundry early to get it out of the way. NYT is for Hillary all the way.
Forget about the hackers. Using standard intel community protocols, it is ASSUMED that foreign intel agencies were reading her emails in near real time.
If it is only state dept sending and receiving on their own server, then the email never touches the internet. So those would be somewhat safer than external emails.
Gawker reported Sidney Blumenthal was communicating with on an account that appeared to belong to Clinton at the "clintonemail.com" domain.
The content of some of those emails was published by RT.com.
Examining the domain registry information (below) for "clintonemail.com" reveals that the domain was first created on January 13, 2009 -- one week before Obama was sworn into office, and the same time Clinton's confirmation hearings began in the Senate.

CASE IN POINT An earlier two-year federal investigation revealed an elaborate web to carry out multiple frauds.
The frauds used a sophisticated system of multiple telephone voice-mail accounts and post office boxes to avoid detection.
The schemes involved swindling $$$millions from individuals, from banks, insurance companies...... and the US government.
The frauds were carried out using non-existent people, fake identities, ID theft, fraudulent SS nos, and phony tax ID numbers.
The defendants faced a range of charges including racketeering, govt fraud, tax evasion, money laundering, wire fraud, making false statements and bank fraud.
More recently it was learned she used private email accounts for govt business exclusively....... and that she had more than one.
The highly unusual practice would have given Clinton impressive control over limiting access to her message archives. It distinguishes Clinton's secretive email practices as far more sophisticated than previously thought.

AP reported----It was unclear whom Clinton hired to set up her private email server---AP traced it to a mysterious identity, Eric Hoteham. That name does not appear in public records databases, campaign contribution records or Internet background searches.
Hoteham was listed as the customer at Clinton's $1.7 million home on Old House Lane in Chappaqua in records registering the Internet address for her email server since August 2010.
The Hoteham personality also is associated with a separate email server, presidentclinton.com, and a non-functioning website, wjcoffice.com, all linked to the same residential Internet account as Mrs. Clinton's email server.
