The Republican Who Can Win
PJMedia ^ | 3/1/2015 | Andrew Klavan

I sincerely wish that GOP candidates who cannot win the presidency would simply not run and save us all the trouble. Ben Carson, Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham, Rick Perry — none of these people is going to be the next president of the United States and each of them could do his country and his party a service by staying out of the race. Rand Paul and Mike Huckabee both stand a slim shadow of a ghost of a chance but I wish they’d drop out, too. Presidential Candidate is not supposed to be a prestigious line on your CV. It’s something you become when you think you have a real opportunity to do some good to your native land.

As for those who have a path to victory — Scott Walker, Jeb Bush, Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz — I will now tell you which one is the truly viable candidate, the only Republican who could actually win the general.

The Republican who can win the general is whichever one realizes that he is running against the news media.

The Democrats have nothing. Their presumptive candidate is a corrupt old crone who has lied to and double-dealt this country far too long. Their current president has done us the favor of showing us the utter worthlessness of the leftist agenda. He has made the collective life of the country worse at every level except the executive level. When it comes to the Democrats and their philosophy, the white is coming off the sepulcher.

But while the left has no practical or moral legitimacy and no candidate who can plausibly represent even their empty promises, they do have one weapon left: the news media. NBC News, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, the New York Times, the Washington Post — each one of these corrupt mouthpieces and all their little acolytes and satellites not only speak for the Democrats but seek to destroy anyone who stands against them. We’ve seen the signs in these last weeks as Scott Walker’s star has risen and the Democrat toadies have rushed out to hound him with meaningless questions in hopes of a “gotcha” moment.

Do you believe in evolution? Is Barack Obama a Christian? Does Barack Obama love America? And soon to come: Do you believe in abortion in cases of rape and incest? Even worse, if a Republican candidate fumbles any of these answers, Candy Crowley won’t even rush in to help him out!

Hoping for a Republican candidate with a clue about the MSM.

Good luck with that. I’ll be voting 3rd party in 2016. I’m tired of getting the shaft by Republicans. I refuse to allow my votes go to another. I hope Cruz wakes up and runs 3rd party, because I’d love to vote for him, but I will NOT vote for another R. Period.

I really don’t think any GOP candidate can win at this point.

The GOP doesn’t deserve to hold any office.

So you, dware, support Hillary Clinton.

You are out of the closet now.

Thanks for your honesty.

“The Republican who can win the general is whichever one realizes that he is running against the news media.”

Scott Walker, walkin’ away!

He’s nailed them a few times already and I expect more of the same.

Reemphasizing the main point:

The Republican who can win the general is whichever one realizes that he is running against the news media.

If you are looking for the candidate that will fight the hardest, smartest, and has the best fidelity to conservatism, and is the most Reaganesque then:

CRUZ or LOSE!

Scott Walker seems the best of the bunch. I am registered GOP but considered myself attached to it by barely a hair. Much more libertarian.

I agree 100%. People are TIRED of today's focus on PERSONA and NOT RECORD.

Yes, Hillary can crack jokes and garner attention because she is a "strong woman". BUT WHAT ABOUT HER RECORD? IT'S ABYSMAL!

Scott Walker is all about HIS RECORD of success in Wisconsin. He can WIN if he chooses the right running mate, which I suspect would have to be a woman if Hillary is running.

Absolutely. RINO or not, “The Republican who can win the general is whichever one realizes that he is running against the news media.”

So you, dware, support Hillary Clinton.

That, my FRiend, is the dumbest thing I've ever heard, and about wore out as "It's Bush's fault". You might like getting screwed in the rear. I don't. After all that the R's have done to stab you in the back, you still sound like a battered woman...but I LUUUUV the GOP! Lol. Anyone who votes GOP needs to check their patriotism, and get a clue.

Of that list, Cruz and Walker both understand the media best. Walker has weathered a literal national blitzkrieg to his governorship. He’s ready. Cruz has weathered the DC attacks from both sides. He’s done great, but also hasn’t necessarily proven he can drive good ideas to the people and getting them passed in a poisoned political environment. If he successfully maneuvers a full field of nominees, I think he proves his abilities.

Rubio came out of his initial campaign a champion of working around the parties and the media. He looked like a real heavyweight. Since...mixed results at best. Compromised by his ambitions, possibly. I have not abandoned him completely, but I am highly suspect. He’s still a solid orator in many situations and at the core a pro-American conservative with a few warts. I just question his commitment vs political gamesmanship.

Walker and Cruz both show signs of meeting Mr. Klavan’s criterion.

Nice seeing Christie dropping out of the race like a heavily-weighted horse down the stretch.

Walker/Cruz would be nice.

Face it.

Yore plan is that of a liberal leftist enabling egotistical misanthrope.

It’s worse if you actually don’t know you are working for Clinton.

AND the GOP elite KNOW which candidates have ‘electability’!

Just look at how well “Frontrunner” Mitt Romney did

(hint to the GOP: only getting 27% of the vote means 73% DONT WANT YOUR GUY)

So you’ll stand there with your arms crossed and your nose in the air while the country continues it’s crash. I can tell you who supports your actions - the RATS.
