House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) announced that the House will vote on a clean Department of Homeland Security funding bill, which marks the conclusion of the Republican attempt to block funding for President Obamas executive amnesty orders.
Boehner told the Republican conference that the bill will get a vote on Tuesday.
He said Pelosi could [force a vote] but he hoped it would be done by a GOP appropriator, a Republican congressman in the meeting tells National Review Online. The GOP lawmaker is referring to a little-known rule, known as Rule 22, that allows any House member to force a vote on a bill if the Senate refuses to create a conference committee.
Senate Democrats filibustered the creation of a conference committee on Monday evening, thwarting the process by which the House and Senate might have ironed out the differences between the DHS appropriations bills passed by the two chambers. The original House bill blocked funding for the implementation of Obamas 2012 and 2014 executive orders on immigration.
The Senate bill did not block funding for the presidents amnesty.
In Tuesday mornings conference meeting, House majority leader Kevin McCarthy (R., Calif.) reiterated his belief that Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) should have used the nuclear option to eliminate the filibuster in response to the Democratic votes to block debate on the House-passed DHS bill.
Republicans had tried to use the DHS funding bill as the vehicle to reverse Obama’s illegal immigration actions. Why was the DHS used as a vehicle to make a last ditch stand against Obama and not the EPA or the Farm Bill? Since the books were already cooked before this was even set up they could give the Democrats and the News Media very good talking points against it. Now all the Congressman who pretend to be Republican but vote like Democrats will also use the same talking points.
Too scared to actually lead.
Afraid that the media and everyone else will blame them.
Bought and paid for by the Chamber of Commerce.
What is the point of voting Republican when you have people like Boehner, McConnell, etc...?
It proves McConnell, Reid, Boner and Pelosi are all on the same team. This has all been theater.
Anyone voting for a republican in the future is simply blind and in denial. And I don’t care who they are. If they’re running as a republican they’re supporting boner and McConnell and graham and McCain et al. Start a third party and threaten to caucus with the democrats. This will be like pouring gasoline down a snake hole. The rinos will all come crawling out.
This is definitely the end of the whig party. Today would be a perfect time for Cruz and Palin to announce the formation of a third party.
JOHN BONER AND MITCH MCCONNELL: LOSERS
RIP the party. Need a third party. Hope we get one. Otherwise I will stay home.
They’ll pass a clean bill and that bill will include money for amnesty. The gop supposedly wanted it to include language that none of the money could be used for amnesty. So, if the courts rule in Obama’s favor, the money is already there.
They’re hiding behind the courts. If the courts rule in Obama’s favor the rinos will say “We couldn’t have defunded it anyway. The courts would have over turned us.”
It is a circus with a faint smell of perfume masking the manure.
Dead girl, live boy ping...
leaning on the courts is a cop out. If you want to defeat an enemy, you fight with all your might, at every opportunity. They are nothing more than spineless cowards. The rinos do represent the US in one way: they’ve either forgotten how or given up the will to fight.
They continue to say that the American people sent them there to reach across the aisle, be bi partisan, work together or whatever the latest analogy is for selling out. They need to be told loudly and clearly that is not what we want. They were sent there to destroy the ideology that is tearing this nation apart.
This pc world is killing us.
GOP-RIP
Long Live The Whigs!
History has placed America on the gallows. Only mere hours after Bibi’s speech to America about how Obama’s deal with Iran will result in tens of millions of deaths from a nuclear holocaust in Israel, Boehner and the RINONATION have agreed to let Obama’s executive amnesty effectively kill the middle class in America. These are dark times, with even blacker nightmares to come for all conservatives in America...
That MAY be true - If and only if the injunction ends up being permanent.
Just like the supreme court was going to invalidate Obamacare over the fee/tax BS.
This is pure capitulation.
We need to get back to honorable people.
Harry & Bess
Harry Truman was a different kind of President. He probably made as many, or
more important decisions regarding our nation’s history as any of the other 32
Presidents preceding him. However, a measure of his greatness may rest on
what he did after he left the White House.
The only asset he had when he died was the house he lived in, which was in
Independence, Missouri. His wife had inherited the house from her mother and
father and other than their years in the White House, they lived their entire lives there.
When he retired from office in 1952 his income was a U.S. Army pension
reported to have been $13,507.72 a year. Congress, noting that he was
paying for his stamps and personally licking them, granted him an
‘allowance’ and later, a retroactive pension of $25,000 per year.
After President Eisenhower was inaugurated, Harry and Bess drove
home to Missouri by themselves. There was no Secret Service following them.
When offered corporate positions at large salaries, he declined, stating,
“You don’t want me. You want the office of the President, and that doesn’t
belong to me. It belongs to the American people and it’s not for sale.”
Even later, on May 6, 1971, when Congress was preparing to award him the
Medal of Honor on his 87th birthday, he refused to accept it, writing,
“I don’t consider that I have done anything which should be the reason for
any award, Congressional or otherwise.”
As president he paid for all of his own travel expenses and food. Modern
politicians have found a new level of success in cashing in on the Presidency,
resulting in untold wealth. Today, too many in Congress also have found a way
to become quite wealthy while enjoying the fruits of their offices. Political offices
are now for sale (ie, Illinois ).
Good old Harry Truman was correct when he observed, “My choices in life
were either to be a piano player in a whore house or a politician. And to tell
the truth, there’s hardly any difference!
How bout now?
FU Boner. 85,000 brownie points off.
Fire his ass today.
I have been a solidly on the side of rebuilding the party, but at this point, I am beginning to think it will not matter anyway, we will be so far gone. I agree, I would rather lose fighting, than win with losers. Either way, we are going to wind up in the same place.
“Just elect more Republicans and they will act!” -K Rove
Can we leave the party yet?
Too scared to actually lead.
Not scared. They beltway GOP want amnesty just as much as the Dems.
There is no opposition party to the obama agenda. The GOP surrendered after Romney lost. Everything has been theater since then.
Welcome to Venezuela Norte!
