South Korea's Samsung Electronics Co Ltd unveiled its latest Galaxy S smartphones, featuring a slim body made from aircraft-grade metal, in a bid to reclaim the throne of undisputed global smartphone leader from Apple Inc.
Designed from scratch in an operation dubbed "Project Zero", the Galaxy S6 and its curved-edges variant are critical for Samsung's plans to reverse plunging smartphone revenues that led to its first annual earnings fall in three years in 2014.
A warm initial reception sent Samsung shares rising as much as 3.9 percent on Monday to their highest in nearly nine months. Some technology publications described the phones as Samsung's best-looking to date after its previous flagship device, the Galaxy S5, failed to impress.

Here’s something for you, Swordmaker ...
Sounds like he is just learning about this too as I just gave him a heads up on the near availability of the S6 as he was thinking I was talking about vaporware in another thread over it’s superior camera to the iphoney
I know it's not vapor ware. It was announced today in Barcelona, Spain. . . for release in April. It is still not available. Only you are claiming at this point that it's superior because of specs of 16 Mega pixels over 8 megapixels. There are phones out there with greater megapixels than that which turn out crappier photos, so megapixels mean diddly and squat as far as photo quality is concerned.
It's a bit like Democrats and Republicans. Since 2008 the RINOs are trying to be like Democrats just to win elections instead of doing what makes them stand apart. Samsung was winning as far as I'm concerned and they conceded to Apple by doing what Apple did and that was a HUGE mistake.
The lens is also superior too and I am talking about the S5 which is even older than the iphone 6
Can you think of any reason why the members of the Apple list would be interested in this article except the inclusion of the headline about “battle Apple”? I really can’t but if you think it’s worth doing I will.
No, not really ... I think you’re right in that regard ... :-) ...
And there’s no use acting like these APPLE HATER TROLLS who love to disrupt the Apple threads! We’re not like they are!
Same thing for removable storage. I have never really trusted the cloud for personal data, but now it seems I don't have much of a choice going forward.
Anyways, Samsung must have thought it out and came to the conclusion that removable batteries and storage are not important. Maybe they are not to most people, and there are ways around them. But to me it is a step backward.
Let me guess, since you kneel at the altar of Steve Jobs; you’re not a troll, you’re special.
LoL!
I was just telling Swordmaker that there no reason to act like the APPLE-HATER TROLLS ... :-) ...
BUT ... if you think that’s a good idea to act like them ... well, what can I say, except that it’s good that I’m not you ... LOL ...
SO, with that, I’ll leave you to your favorite product, and I hope you don’t mind this was written on an iPad.
Burnt Toast
I may upgrade to the 6 but, I have my doubts Samsung will be in the handheld market for much longer...
I don’t understand why they are using a battery that cannot be removed and replaced!
My husband and I have the Motorola Droid Razr M and it’s 20 months old with a dying battery that can’t be removed and replaced. So we have 4 months left before we can replace them at a reasonable price and can’t keep the darn things charged. My husband’s co-worker also has the same phone and her battery gave up the ghost when she had 2 months left before her 2 year replacement date.
I will not purchase another phone with a non-removable battery unless forced to because they all are that way. Is the reason behind this to force people into buying new phones because the battery dies?
*rant over, sorry*
Agree about the SD card and the battery. The battery is my pet peeve though. Why go backward? When I questioned why mine isn’t removable, I was told no new model Motorola phones have removable batteries now. Grrrrr
S6...I still have an S2. If samsung wants me to upgrade they will have to pay me money to do so.
Right on! If I didn’t get my S5 for smoking deal I’d still be using my S2, in fact I still use mine for wifi and as a Kindle reader.
“No removeable storage Micro SD card, and no removable battery.”
Seriously?? What a mistake,,,
