House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) admitted on Face the Nation Sunday morning he had no idea what the conservative caucus of the House GOP was thinking when it squelched a vote to fund the Department of Homeland Security for another three weeks.
Boehners plan had been to approve funding for those three weeks to allow a district court time to rule on whether President Barack Obamas executive order delaying deportations could be implemented while a suit questioning its legality pended. A rider defunding that order is responsible for holding up DHS funding in the Senate, but if the order were put on hold the GOPs objection would be temporarily rendered mute.
That was Boehners plan, anyway. Fifty-some members of the conservative caucus rebelled Friday night, forcing Boehner to partner with House Democrats to pass a one-week extension and leaving the House GOP to repeat Fridays mess all over again this week.

Did they have plan that could have succeeded that would have gotten them with they wanted, asked host John Dickerson, this small group you say that basically undermined your effort?
Not that I know of, Boehner responded.
Was it fruitless? Dickerson pressed.
The House of Representatives is a rambunctious place. We have 435 members. A lot of members that have different ideas of what with we should and shouldnt be doing.
Can you lead those members? Dickerson asked.
i think so, Boehner replied. Im not going to suggest its easy. Because its not.
Watch the clip below, via CBS News:
Yes. That is what I have written him and many others have. It is up to the House to impeach.
Boner needs to man up to take on the bad situation is has helped to put himself in. He didn't have to run for office in 2014.
To paraphrase Dean Wormer to Flounder in the movie Animal House: “ Tan, drunk, and stupid is no way to govern Mr. Speaker....”
I wonder if the writer knows the difference between rendering something mute and rendering it moot.
Say it Boehner... “ the Congress of the United States is not going to sit back and let this President usurp our power to legislate and flagrantly violate laws specifically written by Congress that legislate this matter.”
That’s been one of my favorite sayings for a long time. It’s painful enough getting back up once so why waste the trip? Do what you can while you’re down there.
I’d like to render 0bama mute. The sound of his sing-song voice drives me crazy.
Sounds right, he has no clue period.
Well everyone knows what boehner’s plan was, stall, pray the courts do his job, if not surrender to the democrats and make excuses. Worthless loser.
Hey, it made it thru spell check, what do you expect? /s
Or, if McConnell has just stood his ground, it would be the Democrat Senate that was blocking the agency's funding.
That jumped out at me too. Illiterate writers and editors.
Yep.. he’s that f’n stupid.
This is the last straw on the camels back as far as I’m concerned. I’m not old or young (40) but I know if this amnesty passes the country, as I know it, is gone and not returning in my lifetime. I will do what I can to live under the radar, pay little or no taxes, and barter as much as possible. I’ll need a couple years to prepare and get the business ready to sell but sell I will. I pay way too much in taxes to have them spent against my fellow Americans. The politiians no longer care about American citizens. They just want my taxes to fund their new pets from Mexico.
Journalists with an 8th grade education would be nice.
I do believe the GOP is finished for now. There no chance it can recover from this debacle for a very long time. Boehner and McConnell were the architects of this failure and they will be forever remembered for it.
My question to Tammy Faye is why didn’t you just stick with the first bill you passed? Stop trying to play the compromise game with the Dems and Mitch.
