It wasn't so long ago that Republicans were viewing the prospect that the Supreme Court might overturn a key provision of the Affordable Care Act with unalloyed glee.
The court might "ultimately take it down," Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) crowed in December. "You could have a mulligan here, a major do-over of the whole thing, that opportunity presented to us by the Supreme Court."

Unfortunately, I don’t think they have anything to worry about. It seems that there is not much call for basic logic in today’s America. Everywhere you turn, it appears that flawed reasoning, largely based on the emotions of a sector group, is what prevails in the courts, in the media.
I hope and wait for the pendulum to swing the other way.
The Rule of Law is dead.
Of course, that's the point of 1984.
The dumb-a$$ed Republicans are afraid they will have to DO something if ACA is overturned and they know that will expose their corporate dependence in a truly garish way.
Republicans WISH they had received the favor of a $1.4 trillion industry...fully regulated from the halls of Congress.
They will not be able to shy away from a New National Healthcare Law...only this time THEY will get paid.
Doesn’t matter what the Supremes say. If grand poobah Hussein obongo issues an executive order to change Obamacare (”the law”), they cannot stop him.
Obama has made other changes to “the law.” Why should this stop him?
Speaking of Orwell, he was a mere 30 years ahead of his time.
Nothing to worry about. Roberts rewrote it once to save it; no reason why he wouldn’t do it again. Right? Otherwise, the Court might be viewed as political, right, Johnny Boy?
I love how the plain language in the Obamacare act is characterized as a “hyper-literal interpretation.” These people have no shame.
It must be very tempting to man like him to think he could simply declare himself Emperor for Life.
Especially when he knows the US Congress or Courts would not stop him.
After the contortions Roberts did to uphold it in the first place, this case shouldn’t be a problem for him.
Emperor for Life
That could be coming. I’m not sure he’s importing voters just for other Democommunists.
Obamacare has never polled positive numbers to this day.
It is a big contributing factor to low labor force participation.
It is an entirely commie/rat scheme straight out of Orwell.
It established the precedent of “constitutionally” forcing citizens to purchase a service.
It is certain to destroy quality healthcare.
Now, if the GOP cannot find the courage to relieve citizens of this unpopular burden, isn't is clear they not only don't work for us, but is there any reasonable expectation they will stop the Obama tyranny of the internet and immigration?
Article V. Now.
If the Supreme Court guts Obamacare, then the solution is obvious:
Republican Congress passes a bill that returns medical care to the private market, like it was. Send it to Obama to sign; if he refuses, it is all on him. Just like they can do with the Homeland Security bill.
In effect you’re saying that rationality no longer prevails in this neurotic country. I have to agree with you.
An issue going into the next elections should be which candidates are going to issue executive orders canceling Obama’s executive orders.
Hillary and all candidates should be made to answer which executive order they will cancel. This is how you can overrule king Obama’s ruling.
Republican Congress passes a bill that returns medical care to the private market
*************
I find it difficult to share your optimism about this. The GOP congress can’t or won’t pass anything. I have no faith in them whatsoever. And they could care less about us.
They still have “the goods” on Roberts so let’s see how he twists out of this one, if possible.
” Republicans WISH they had received the favor of a $1.4 trillion industry...fully regulated from the halls of Congress.”
Wish, nothing! A bunch of GOPe are ALREADY on the Big Healthcare payroll. McConnell is one of the largest recipients.
There is a lot of money to be made by politicians and votes to be tweaked by fiddling with provisions. No. Republicans do not seriously want to lose Obamacare.
From Obama’s perspective,if you don’t see that there’s nobody who will stand up to you, then why hold back? Grab whatever you want. I abhor his power grab, but am realistic enough to see how he views it. IMO he’s going for broke over the next two years. The odds of anyone stepping up to stop him are very, very low. All he see’s is a big green light telling him to proceed.
And yet the Republican base will mindlessly and dutifully vote for them again. They are stuck on stupid.
