The nation of Jordan is enraged after a Pentagon leak acknowledged the existence of an anti-terror training facility in the country. The Jordanian government specifically requested that information regarding the facility used to train troops engaged in battle with ISIS not be released.
The Pentagon says that a Department Of Defense officer, acting on the condition of anonymity, may have let slip the information on the Jordanian anti-terror camp during a media briefing last week. The Pentagon has since erased any mention of the training camp in Jordan from the transcripts.
“‘I really was surprised at that briefing,’ stated Kenneth Pollack, a scholar on Middle Eastern political-military matters and senior fellow in the Brookings Institution. ‘It went way beyond things i expected any uniformed military officer to state.'”
The Pentagon specifically has policies that ensure that such information is not shared, unless the partner nation shares first:
“Either the official made a mistake or is deliberately leaking information to put the administration’s plans for Syria in a better light in an attempt to defuse criticism that the administration has bungled efforts to aid Syrian rebels,” A national security analyst for The Heritage Foundation, James Phillips, said.
This latest gaffe from the DOD may significantly cripple relations with a pro-U.S. nation currently engaged in battle with the Islamic State.
Jordan just recently announced that they would be ramping up efforts to battle ISIS after the horrific death of a captured Jordanian pilot at the hands of the terror group.
Yes, these briefings are cleared at some of the highest levels depending on the subject matter and PAO’s do not go around “leaking” information.
It is their job to know what to say and when...
I don’t believe for one second that this is an accident or mistake.
This was not a slip up .. it was obvious.
After all .. we can’t have Jordon showing us up and actually doing the job we should be doing.
Oh, I just think that the next Democrat Party convention should be at Leavenworth.

Think about this: just this year, many low ranking E-2s and E-3s have had the book thrown at them for infractions. Relatively minor in the grand scheme of things, but infractions none the less. Being late for work, failure to complete required mandatory training on time, etc.
And here we have, the President, who if held to the same standards just on TRAVEL and reimbursement, would be sent to Leavenworth.
There are slip ups. There are loose lips. There is propaganda. There are distractions. And there is intentional telling. Hopefully, the Pentagon isn’t so lax for this to be the first four.
