To the Editor:
Yet another climate denier letter displaying a scientific illiteracy that is a sad indictment of our educational system: "Humans didn't cause global warming" in the Feb 11 edition of The Sanford Herald. All you have to do is Google "Scientific American global warming" to find out that global warming is an undisputed scientific fact.
Climate scientists know all about previous periods of climate change, that's basic high school science class stuff. They were all caused by something. Scientists call that something a "forcing." They have established that this time the forcing is not any of the previous causes of climate change. It's been proven to be caused by our burning massive amounts of fossil fuels. See the award-winning Skeptical Science website for peer-reviewed climate science data on this.
Why do so many people disbelieve every scientific body in the world and every climate scientist publishing in peer-reviewed science journals (where real scientists show their work and express their ideas)? It's because the fossil fuel industry is fighting for its life and it's fighting dirty, secretly spending millions to spread lies and pseudoscience is right-wing media. (Scientific American, "Dark Money.") They've modeled their denial campaign directly on big tobacco's old denial that smoking causes lung cancer, fake "scientists" and all. (From The De Smog Blog, chosen as one of TIME's 25 best blogs of 2011).
Let's stop listening and (and printing letters from) the misinformed (we see where spreading pseudoscience leads, as measles spreads across our country) and look at solutions to global warming. The main one is to phase out the use of fossil fuels, and that can be very good for our economy, whatever you think of global warming. Most major economists agree, including eight Nobel Prize winners.

“and see the nonprofit, grassroots Citizens Climate Lobby website for more information.”
Well that settles it for me. It’s nonprofit, it must be good and proper.
He’s so gay.
If cap and trade had passed 4 years ago the greens would be taking credit for the cold winters and we would be getting real temperature data.
I left the following as a comment there.
Dear Pete...the misinformed are so because of half-truth sensationalists like yourself who enable the worst of our government bureaucrats to enforce your world view on the rest of us all because you earth worship and divorce reality and honesty from the honorable scientific approach. You take “evidence that suggests” and fabricate evidence of fact. I can’t believe the lengths you and others go to so as to purposefully dismiss the greatest of our earths thermal blanket, Water Vapor. That the Sun is out there and Solar flares do “nothing appreciable” yet simple experiments prove otherwise
or, that the surface of our planet is 4/5ths water and said sun heats that up and makes all that vapor but no....its evil SUV’s and emissions, all of which are out shined by one volcanic eruption.
We’re done with the lefts religion.
I refuse.
Nonprofit... except for the taxpayer’s subsidizing dime
All you have to do is Google "Scientific American global warming," and you will get the "facts." Ha ha. That logic is as valid as "As Seen on TV."
Or you could watch Bill Nye the science guy to get the "facts."
Science is far more than using search engines on your computer.
Mankind has nothing to do with global warming. The Sun has everything to do with global warming on Earth, Venus, Mars, etc.
Suggest that you put together the data, methodology, and assumptions connected to climate change; then you might begin to understand the magnitude of the problem, ehh?
Global Warming Denier.
That is fascinating if one volcanic eruption can loose more CO2 than man has... it would be a great comeback if true... where do we get the data on this?
Modern science tells us human activity is causing climate change. Back in the pre-Civil War days, when the first railroads were built, the “modern science” of the day warned of the dangers of rail travel, saying the human body cannot withstand sustained speeds above 30MPH. I’m sure Richard Petty and Chuck Yeager would have a good laugh over that one. A few years ago we were at the Baseball Hall of Fame. They have an exhibit on the history of the old Negro Leagues, very informative without the PC garbage one would expect. One artifact I found interesting was an excerpt from a medical journal published during WWII that argued against integrating the Major Leagues because Blacks were athletically INFERIOR to Whites. THIS is what “modern science” told us just 70 years ago. Obviously, Jackie Robinson, Willie Mays, Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Elston Howard, Willie McCovey, Reggie Jackson, etc never received that memo. This shows how factors not having to do with the science can have a detrimental influence. Whether it was the ugly spectacle of racism, or to advance some social/political agenda. And since many of these pro-AGW’ers receive tons of grant $$$ from the Gov’t or supposedly non-profit eco groups, their positions are as meaningful as Bill Gates issuing a strong buy recommendation on Microsoft. What should we expect them to say?
Like the Phil Jones "My dog ate all the raw data" excuse? Or Mann's hockey stick graph whose methodology would take random data and give it a hockey stick shape 99% of the time?
Peer review in many cases has turned into a case of the Emperor's New Clothes where the one who complements the emperor's clothing the most gets the most federal grants.
I posit that this folly has a lot to do with forgetting God...
Now before anyone screams that believing in God means you have to believe in some sky pixie who will always render anything you do sans consequence, that is a strawman and not what I am saying.
I am saying that God is about objective truth. One thing a pursuit of objective truth knows is the limits to which it can go at a particular point. It’s called humility.
Modern climate “science” really is about a cabal that pats itself on the back about the picture it has created. The likes of Michael Faraday would hoot at what is parading around as science today.
Peer review works only when the peers are committed to absolute truth. Otherwise it is a cabal feedback mechanism.

Mr. Pete Kuntz is a scientific illiterate.
Its leftist advocacy AKA pseudo science. It has much in common with flying spaghetti monsters and flat eartherism because its an emotional belief.
Just because Scientific American prints this risible nonsense as fact doesn’t make it true. There is no proof climate change on earth is primarily caused by human activities. This cold winter snap should make that quite evident.
“Pete Kuntz” is a pseudonym for Trofim Lysenko, isn’t it?
This guy really needs to give up journalism. He is brain dead.
Tell him to go back to the drum circle and take a few more hits off his dummy pipe!
