Boston is running out of room to dump snow. Niagara Falls has partially froze. Flint, Mich., has tied its all-time low of minus-25 degrees on Friday.
The New York area had real-feel temperatures of well below zero on Thursday night and into the Friday morning commute.
As for the days highs, temperatures on Friday will be 10 degrees to 25 degrees below normal from Maine to Florida.
But overall, its been the sixth-warmest winter on record in the U.S. and the warmest since 2012, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
Globally, temperatures on land and well as for land and ocean temperatures combined were the second-highest for January since records began in 1880, it said.

Sixth warmest?
So? What's your point?
We've just had the sixth-warmest winter since records were kept, so let's do away with the Constitution?

Many public schools are closed today and others opened late due to just the cold.
Its darn cold for Maryland.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, very warm....not so in the East.
It's obvious to me that we've exceeded planetary boundaries and the ERF will soon explode.
Goodbye cruel world....

Why doesn't Boston just dump its snow in the bay and rivers where its frozen...or even in a reservoir for that matter. Pile it high.

It’s been awesome here, highs in the upper 70s and even 80s. Bit of a “cooling” trend expected next week, highs sinking all the way down to the low 70s.

I call “bovine scatology” on this one. It was -28 this morning in Casa de CC. Global warming is a religion, not a science.

If you forget completely about February, it has been a fairly mild winter here in SW Pennsylvania.
And if my uncle had been plumbed just a little differently, he might've been my auntie.

I can remember many surprisingly good February days here in the PNW. Then....the monsoon starts. Fortunately we have avoided the one thing I hate the most - ice.
Overall I think we have some of the best weather in the U.S. and not too many bugs and other creepy crawly things either, not to mention an abundance of water. God’s Country.

I recall reports of last year some said it was the warmest year on record and others said it was the coldest winter on record.

It would be fascinating to know how global ocean temperatures were compiled in 1880 let alone in the present day - no the Argo system does not give a good picture of 70% of the earths surface.
