Former Republican presidential candidate and congressman Ron Paul says secession is happening and its good news. Paul later predicted the states would stop listening to federal laws.
I would like to start off by talking about the subject and the subject is secession and, uh, nullification, the breaking up of government, and the good news is its gonna happen. Its happening, Paul, the father of potential Republican presidential candidate Rand Paul, told a gathering at the libertarian Mises Institute in late January. The event Paul was speaking at was titled Breaking Away: The Case for Secession.
Paul said secession would not be legislated by Congress, but would be defacto, predicting when conditions breakdown theres gonna be an alternative.
And its not gonna be because there will be enough people in the U.S. Congress to legislate it. It wont happen. It will be defacto. Ya know, youll have a gold standard when the paper standard fails and were getting awfully close to that. And people will have to resort to taking care of themselves. So when conditions breakdown, ya know, theres gonna be an alternative. And I think thats what were witnessing.

"The withdrawal of a State from a league has no revolutionary or insurrectionary characteristic. The government of the State remains unchanged as to all internal affairs. It is only its external or confederate relations that are altered. To term this action of a Sovereign a 'rebellion' is a gross abuse of language."
"Secession belongs to a different class of remedies. It is to be justified upon the basis that the States are Sovereign. There was a time when none denied it. I hope the time may come again, when a better comprehension of the theory of our Government, and the inalienable rights of the people of the States, will prevent any one from denying that each State is a Sovereign, and thus may reclaim the grants which it has made to any agent whomsoever."
Of course not.
OTOH, if Texas was unwilling to meaningfully negotiate an accounting of separation damages suffered by each side and allow for the peaceful withdraw of US assets and personnel, but instead began hostilities against same, then it would be otherwise.
One possible worst case: the remaining US government is politically unwilling to come to the defense of the new country of Texas in the event of armed incursion across its southern borders.
Having lived in Texas your statement is hilarious. The Mexican Army is going to invade Texas? LOL.
Ron Paul took an oath many times to support and defend the Constitution of the UNITED States, a document whose first stated purpose is “to form a more perfect union.”
I guess he missed that part.
That is because you missed the obvious, pal. I didn't limit my statement to the Mexican army.
That should be the first action.
It would certainly reduce the average age of the new country!
Would all those 65 and over be allowed to sell their homes before they are thrown out, or would the real estate be confiscated?
