On Monday's Morning Joe on MSNBC, Joe Scarborough suggested that having a literal interpretation of the Bible could lead Christians to violence in a similar manner as radical Islam. Oddly enough, Scarborough hoped to avoid being "torn to shreds online" by equating the two, but made the comparison anyway.
The morning's panel centered on the violence of ISIS and its undeniable ties to the tenets of Islam, but Scarborough felt compelled to find a link between Islam and Christianity. He said:
A very crude way to put it is, this would be the ultra fundamentalist Christians who believe every single word of the Bible has to be interpreted in the exact ways which could also lead to some violence.

The progressive goal is to actually incite violent reaction from religious groups, which will justify oppressive measures, leading to more violence, until there is “no more fuel to burn.”
Well, I have the entire Bible all the way through, several times.
Scarborough must not understand what “New Testament” means and obviously he has not read the words of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.
‘Ultrafundamentalist Democrats Who Believe Every Word of the Democrat Party Could Lead to Some Violence’
Name names, Joe.
Oh—You don’t have any?
Didn’t think so.
Schmuck.
Cool story, Joe.
“and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.”
Okay, I guess he has a point. I believe every word of that.
Dear Scumbag Scarborough.
Please quote verses in the New Testiment where Jesus, our lord and savior, our Christian lord and savior, calls for the beheading and murder of any non believer. If I recall Sunday school correctly he commands us to be a fisher of men and ATTRACT people to the Christian faith. No where in the bible can I find Jesus telling us to kill any non believer. NOPE. Go where the sinners are and offer testimony. Invite sinners to the glory of Christ to be forgiven. Invite the worst among us to his grace. Even the most horrid person who did the most evil things can accept Christ and be forgiven and join the brotherhood of Christians if he repents his sins, accepts Jesus as savior in the face of capital punishment. Even Saul, who commited horrible atrocities, was welcome in Christian forgiveness.
Moral relativism at its’ worst. So sick of it. Until Muslims, I am friends with many, declare a reformation and a “new testament” to the Koran it is a religion founded on violence, murder, and evil acts. The most horrible holocausts in history (communism, Maoism, fascism, socialism, Juche, nazism) have ALL eliminated Christianity and Judiasm as their first acts. Nazism, the most effecient, adopted Islam to justify their murder of Jews.
Oh well. I’m angry. I am angry and sick of the moral relativism equating modern horrors to something that happened 1000 years ago.
Love your neighbor as you love yourself! Yikes!
You have?
There it is, NAILED IT!
Non-believers will go to any length to bad-mouth Christianity and Christians and deny the existence of God rather than give up their “right” to do whatever they want whenever they want to whomever they want, no matter how injurious to themselves or others. That includes equating Christianity with Islam.
. . . . .obviously he has not read the words of Our Lord, Jesus Christ.

It is so sad Joe doesn’t realize Who is in charge. He needs a huge dose of Sunday School sooner rather than later. I just can’t bring myself to listen to his blathering and pontificating. I pray that witnessing Christians will come into his life and that he may used as an instrument for God’s Glory.
After I read the New Testament, I wanted to walk down to GOP headquarters and start tipping over tables....
You ever get around a group of old non-church going men and listen to them talk about religious matters.
You would be shocked at the stories they tell about what is in the Bible, which are NOT in there!
Oh boy, I meant “read.”
My Mother read the entire Bible through several times. Both the old and new testaments. I can still see her in my mind sitting beside the window, reading her Bible.
She was also the kindest and most gentle person one could imagine. The Bible sure didn’t turn her into a maniacal terrorist.
And Joe Scarborough again shows what a complete and utter ignoramus he is.
Scarborough? Not the brightest bulb on the tree.
Ignorant beyond belief.
Yup. We all know how “Love thy neighbor as thyself” is an inflammatory statement that causes Christians to go out and behead others. /s
