Likely 2016 presidential hopeful Ben Carson is receiving a mixed reaction to news that he will be among the featured guests at Al Sharptons upcoming National Action Network convention. A conservative star, the retired neurosurgeon was listed among several high-profile speakers set to join Sharpton for the April event.
In response to a Twitter post by the NAN promoting the convention, many Carson supporters openly questioned his decision to participate.
Losing respect for Ben Carson if hes [sic] speaking at one of your racist rallies, one Twitter user wrote.
Sites like Twitchy were quick to jump on the news, sparking increased social media discussion. While the announced appearance certainly earned Carson some criticism, plenty of others saw it as a potential positive.
Hearkening back to the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast during which Carson became a household name by criticizing the Obama administration in front of Barack Obama, some felt he is positioning himself to create another similar moment in front of Sharpton and his allies.
Ben Carson and Al Sharpton together? one post asked. Either the weather is so bad hell has frozen over or Dr. Carson is gonna go prayer breakfast on Al.

I don’t think Carson has a real shot at the Presidency - and he certainly has his policy gaps - but he is excellent on some points of debate and can move conversations in the right direction.
What he says to that audience could matter a great deal. It’ll definitely get a rise out of them - that’s always a good thing.
Preach where the sinners are.

All you nay sayers show me anyone who has said anything like what the Doctor said in the presence of Dear Leader. If Moochell could have ordered the SS to she would have had his head on a platter. The look in her eyes was rather disturbing. Her eyes were screaming “how dare you in the presence of royalty say such things.
My list as of now in order is;
Ted Cruz
Scott Walker
Ben Carson
Not sure what I’ll do if Jeb or Crispy Cream is the candidate. Hope I don’t have to find out.
I’m shocked they’ll let him speak. Is there a hook off stage?
Ben aint got no fear.
Popcorn. Need lots'a popcorn!
Ben Carson is not what we would call a conservative, he just has some ideas that aren’t leftist.
I don't think so. It's giving Sharpton credit as a leader. Sharpton's a racist manipulator who cherishes confrontation. Dr. Carson should be speaking out against him in strongest terms.
I wouldn’t choose to dignify Al Charlatan (a fake reverend), but maybe Dr. Carson can talk some sense to these people.
No conservative should EVER!!! appear at any function where Al Sharpton is another speaker. EVER!! Unless it’s as a judge sentencing Sharpton to hard time in prison for his crimes.
Yes!!! Sharpton is a scoundrel and not a respected political opponent. Appearing at a function with him lends him respect he does not deserve.
