China's military not ready 'to fight and win future wars,' new report says

Despite huge advances, China's military suffers from "serious weaknesses" that could limit its ability "to fight and win future wars," a congressional study released this week suggests.

The 184-page report sponsored by the U.S. Congress-mandated U.S.-China Economic and Security Review Commission and prepared by the Rand Corporation, says the People's Liberation Army has made rapid progress in a short time.

However, weaknesses in its organizational structure -- including corruption among its ranks -- and in its combat capabilities mean it faces serious challenges.

"These shortcomings could limit its ability to successfully conduct the information-centric, integrated joint operations Chinese military strategists see as required to fight and win future wars," the report said.

I don't believe this at all. They can start with small actions and iron out any problems in a hurry. They certainsly have the money and personnel to do the job.

Go about 20 min into this video, to see a formation of 25 across march in perfect lines.

Lies. China could defeat us now. through financial, cyber, asymmetrical military maneuvers, and through our own corruption/incompetence/unwillingness to fight. (We can't destroy the dam! that is a holy dam! You never heard of this? The Chinese worship dams, that's the ticket...) I am shocked, but thank God we have not been taken yet.

When the smallest unit in the ChiCom PLA is the “horde,” the U.S. Govt. had better be worried.

If one does not care about a heavy wastage rate in soldiers massive if disorganized attacks on an enemy will win the battle. China may have a late 1950’s army but it is massive

You will not live long enough to see U.S. boots on the ground in mainland China. But, that’s China’s wildest wettest dream nevertheless. Conversely, Taiwan’s WWD is for China to mount a good old fashioned amphibious invasion across the strait. What a turkey shoot that would be - which is why it will never happen.

When we lock horns with the ChiComs a side benefit will be to end the nightmare of off shoring and “free” trade. We can use Chinese rope to hang the gloBULList sellouts.

Why invade Taiwan. China will simply concoct some worthless treaty with the Obama Regime where the U.S. promises to help unite China in exchange for something worthless like Global Warming. Next thing you know U.S. troops are invading Taiwan on behalf of China.

It sounds absurd, but consider how the Regime is currently more than willing to sell out Israel for a worthless treaty with Iran. What's the diff?

Our entire gov’t is emulating the communist propaganda machine.

The enemy within has succeeded; “We The People” are now the enemy, I expect a ten fold acceleration of the progressive liberal democrat/rino communist party in the next two years, what’s to stop them.

This actually jives with several other articles I've read on the subject. They've seriously cut down a lot of their combat brigades and are trying to emulate combat formations in the West, but they still have a long way to go. Observers at several of their exercises have stated that they have serious issues with combined ops and desperately need some real life experience. My guess is that they'll start small, like with Vietnam, Philippines, etc., then work their way up to Taiwan and Japan.

What some countries, and I think a lot of 2nd and 3rd rate powers do this, is that they buy up tanks and fighters and do not have the support systems to have real depth.

Egypt has 1,000 M1A1 tanks, about 200 have never been uncrated. I wonder how many support vehicles and tank tow vehicles they have? Armored fuel trucks?
