Russell Moore (no relation to Roy Moore), the head of the Southern Baptist Convention's public policy arm, says Alabama judges who in good conscience cannot issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, should resign instead of fighting the law while in office.
What if judges in Germany refused to approve legal orders to transport Jews to death camps? What if they just resigned? Would that have been enough? A resignation would only mean that a new judge would be appointed who would comply with the order.
A line has to be drawn somewhere.

So far it sounds like Roy Moore is doing his job and the federal judge is not.
Many Christian leaders are working for the satanic corrupt government, and using a perversion of Romans 13 to justify their position.
The American churches are facing a similar choice to German churches in the 1930s. We will judge them by their fruits.
Russell Moore is naive and clueless. As if it matters what the citizens think on any issue. All the Left needs is to find a judge who will support their agenda. When that happens they get their way. Always. Nearly every state in the union passed laws defining marriage as between a man and a woman. Leftist judges have disposed of these laws.
> using a perversion of Romans 13
Yes, they are confusing the Romans 13 government with the one in Revelation 13.
Instead of just folding, there are times we must stand against evil knowing that there would be consequences. Otherwise , should Dietrich Bonhoeffer have kept silent ? Let’s go further back , way further back. Should Saint Stephen have remained silent to avoid stoning?
God bless Judge Roy Moore!! America needs more fighters like him,
Glad I left the SBC a few years back.
I saw this coming.
Sickening.
He has no idea what he’s talking about.
Alabama Chief Justice Roy S. Moore Memorandum to Alabama Probate Judges

The States have become very confused about the meaning of “the law”, the “rule of law”, and especially the meaning of Article VI §2, a/k/a the “Supremacy Clause”.
The decisions of inferior courts created by Congress under Article III are not “laws” , and following them, or not, is up to States. The decisions of the Supreme Court ABOUT LAWS MADE BY CONGRESS AND PERTAINING TO POWERS DELEGATED TO CONGRESS by the States and/or the People are binding on the States and on their judges.
Therefore, insofar as “civil rights laws” passed by Congress are a valid exercise of authority granted by Amendments XIII, XIV, XV, XIX and XXIV, they are binding on the states and Article III courts may hear cases and render judgements about them.
This authority DOES NOT EXTEND to cases not founded on laws passed by Congress and pursuant to its proper, delegated authority.
There are no Federal laws and there is no Federal Constitutional amendment pertaining to same-sex sexual behavior or to the concept that it is possible for two men or two women to be “married”. Therefore, there is no authority reposing in Federal courts to hear cases or issue judgments about same.
As a Southern Baptist, yes he should resign immediately!
The time draws nigh when we will be resigned to arms or death. Perhaps to both.
To Russell Moore:
Esther 4:14:
For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?” (NIV)
Chief Justice Roy Moore is doing exactly what God would have him do right now.
And the Governor of AL needs to back him up.
As a conservative Catholic, I am extremely disappointed in Rev. Moore. I was hoping the Southern Baptist would be brothers and sisters in arms in defense of marriage, willing to be martyrs if necessary. I was counting on them more than liberals in my own faith.
It’s taken awhile and a lot longer for Baptists to become apostate, but yet...here we are!
I think we can still count on quite a few of them.
How do you reconcile that with civil disobedience and the civil rights movement? How can you reconcile that with the American Revolution itself?
This is when its nice to be Southern Baptist and ignore this twit for brains in the Baptist “headquarters”. Lack of a hierarchy is good for a religion. If judge Moore decides the Lord is leading him into civil disobedience, the home office cannot fire him, issue a fatwa, declare a bull, excommunicate him, or anything else.
There’s a word for those who surrender:
“Casualties.”
humm. if this religious leader is a leftist, his strategy is amazingly clever and sound. if Christians are undiscerning enough actually implement his suggestion, he will have completely disenfranched the conservative/Christian right in ala without lifting a finger.
