The debate about confirming Loretta Lynch is suddenly getting partisan.
Democrats are now increasingly slamming the Republicans handling of President Barack Obamas nominee for attorney general, complaining that the veteran federal prosecutors confirmation is being slow-walked by Republicans. Their evidence: The Senate Judiciary Committee could clear Lynchs nomination as early as Thursday, two weeks after her confirmation hearing ended. But that vote will almost certainly be delayed until the end of this month which means she wont get a final floor vote until March.

.
. The confirmation pace stands in especially stark contrast to how quickly the GOP-led Senate has taken up Ash Carters nomination for defense secretary. He first appeared before the Senate Armed Services Committee Feb. 4, was swiftly reported out of that panel earlier this week and is headed to a Thursday confirmation vote.
Theres so many similarities between the Lynch nomination and the Carter nomination, said Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), one of Lynchs biggest boosters. And to move Carter so quickly and to slow down Lynch is very troublesome, and I think they ought to move her ASAP.

Republicans have said generally they have no beef with Lynchs qualifications and résumé. But Republicans are using her nomination as one way to fight Obama over his executive actions on immigration, and they have also repeatedly pressed Lynch over issues involving current Attorney General Eric Holder who has had a deeply contentious relationship with GOP lawmakers.

Should never have made it out of committee
Oh, please. We have all seen this act before. Hold it up, delay it, make some noise to appease Conservatives, and then nominate the candidate 98-2.
Pfft..., does anyone - anyone - still believe all this political theater crap anymore? What a joke.
Good. Delay it till January 2017.
Oh, MOTHER of GOD!
The white boys on Capitol Hill better hurry and confirm her or the Kenyan will kick their asses.
This is one which qualifies for “mixed feelings”. On the one hand, we need to get rid of Holder. On the other hand, we don’t know if Lynch will be much better. If I had to choose, I think I would opt to get rid of Holder as soon as possible and take my chances with Lynch.
An absolute travesty if her nom goes anywhere at all. Nothing that we are not used to, unfortunately.
Mugawd, your psychic powers are amazing, with their accurate look at the future!
“Should never have made it out of committee”
It hasn’t yet as far as I know.
I hope you’re kidding. Holder has given notice. Lynch is even more overtly radical than Holder. It’s a perfect certainty she is beyond unacceptable on her own words, there are no chances to take IMHO.
In her confirmation hearing she said anyone in this country - legally or illegally - has a Constitutional right to work. Essentially, the rule of law be damned.
That disqualifies her for Attorney General. Period. Any republican who supports her violates their sworn duty to protect and defend the Constitution.
I’ve already told my newly minted Senator, Perdue, that he HAS to come out NOW and say he won’t vote for her or he will lose my vote if I’m still alive when he runs for re-election. I’m not interested in him getting absolution from McConnell for a no vote when McConnell has determined he has enough votes to pass her.
Holder has given notice, but he will stay there until a replacement has been sworn in. We know how bad Holder has been and continues to be. We aren’t sure whether Lynch would be worse, but I have a hard time believing anybody could be worse than Holder. This is one of those hold your nose moments. Either way you go, it stinks.
She should be rejected because a known criminal attended her selection announcement. I mean not only Obama but Al Sharpton as well.
Maybe I misunderstand the purpose of the US AG, but isn’t the main responsibility to UPHOLD THE LAW AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION?? She has already said she won’t uphold the LAW! How is she still under consideration???
“Republicans have said generally they have no beef with Lynchs qualifications and résumé.”
And there’s the problem.
The implication is that the difference must be RAISIS.
You are a fool - non thinking ... TWO YEARS OF LYNCH!!! Holder is going to go ...and might even go with a temporary in stand pending the appointment of another
