If the roughly four to five million immigrants who could benefit from President Barack Obamas executive order were to be deported, it would come with a price tag of about $25 billion.
That was the estimate by Politico, which said it came up with the figure based on a variety of sources.
Politico estimated that it costs roughly $7,200 to deport someone. The Department of Homeland Security told Politico that it costs closer to $8,661.
Deportations have skyrocketed under Obama, reaching a record more than 2 million since he became president.
The president, however, has accused Congress of not budgeting enough funds to properly enforce immigration laws, Politico noted.
A report from the Department of Justices Office of Legal Counsel said that Obamas executive action is designed to respond to the practical reality that the number of aliens who are removable under the [Immigration and Naturalization Act] vastly exceeds the resources Congress has made available to DHS for processing and carrying out removals.

Should have open bidding. Could probably get it done for $2500 per head. Everything the government does cost at least twice what it should be done for. Still at 25 billion it would be a bargain in the long run. I do believe that their estimate of the number of illegals is low.
Chump change.
Red herring.
Deporati0on is totally unnecessary.
All you have to do is stop giving them government checks and freebies.
Nothing more.
That will SAVE lots more than 25 billion.
BS. There is a way to make illegals self-deport and that would be a deadline of so many days, followed by assets forfeiture. Turn the police state away from enslaving US citizens and turn it on the foreign invaders.
best $235 billion we could spend right now?
(ps: bus tickets haven’t gotten that expensive, there must a a whole lot of profiteering in this price)
What a bunch of baloney. This is to make the public think it is too expensive to deport. How much does a bus ticket cost?
If it costs that much they are doing something wrong. And as usual, the government can’t do anything without it costing and arm and a leg and making more of a production of it than it needs to be.
I am so sick of being lied to and having BS slung at me like I’m some kind of imbecile.
Stop giving them freebies. Make it a crime to hire them. They’ll go home as there will be no reason to stay. On their own peso.
Keeping them is like $130 billion per year. I vote get rid of them.
Fire up the presses.
Git 'er done!
Open it up for bids. Bet they can get it done for half that amount.
“That was the estimate by Politico, which said it came up with the figure based on a variety of sources.”
In other words they made it up.

They pull these numbers out of thin air, then when the heat is off they revise the number to 20x the estimate.
I could deport them for free: Eliminate all health, education, and welfare benefits, as well as anchor baby status, and the will deport themselves within three years. This is not complicated.
we handed $5 BILLION to the taliban so they would take back 5 of their commanders.
$25 billion to get rid of 30m illegals would be a bargain!
They should check out expedia.com.
Problem is they think Obama is their daddy.
Shoot them on sight! No questions asked.
