DEVELOPING: The parents of Kayla Mueller, the Arizona woman who was taken hostage by ISIS in August 2013, confirmed Tuesday their daughter died while in the hands of the terror group.
"We are heartbroken to share that we've received confirmation that Kayla Jean Mueller has lost her life," Carl and Marsha Mueller, of Prescott, Ariz., said in a statement. "Kayla was a compassionate and devoted humanitarian. She dedicated the whole of her young life to helping those in need of freedom, justice, and peace."
The family received information from their daughter's ISIS captors over the weekend that was authenticated, according to U.S. officials.
"The family received a private message from Kaylas ISIL captors containing additional information," National Security Council spokeswoman Bernadette Meehan said Tuesday. "Once this information was authenticated by the intelligence community, they concluded that Kayla was deceased."
It is not yet known how or when 26-year-old Mueller died. ISIS claimed last week she was killed by a Jordanian airstrike, but offered no immediate evidence.
President Obama issued a statement Tuesday, also acknowledging her death.

Did I just hear Catherine Herridge report that there was very specific intelligence, very specific in May of 2014 the location of all the hostages being held together. The Intel community wanted them to go in for a rescue and Obama denied the request. Right after that the hostages were no longer held at the same locations. WTF!
I have been blessed at having participated in a few humanitarian relief missions in non-permissive ( i.e. war zones) environments. We did not believe that we could fix the world, or even the parts where we were working. We only tried to take help, hope, and God’s love to those in the greatest need. As followers of Christ were are challenged to love our neighbor as ourselves. There are places in the world where innocent people are hunted like animals and murdered with impunity because of their religion or ethnicity. We are called to deliver them from the hands of the wicked. “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, and yet lose his soul?” (Luke9:20-25)
Are you asking me to procure her baptismal certificate? Perhaps a letter from her reverend? She cared for the sick, the homeless and the victims of war... sounds Christ like to me.
I had hoped that she was still alive, but like most of us here, deep down I knew that was not going to be the case.
RIP, and condolences to the family.
It is a revealing portrait. She was a well-meaning soul who seems to have been engrossed with liberal programs.
She was recognized in her high school years as a National Young Leader and received the President's Award for Academic Excellence in 2007 and the Yavapai County Community Foundation Youth Philanthropist of the Year award in 2005. In 2007, she received the Presidential Volunteer Award, recognizing her work with Youth Counts, AmeriCorps, America's Promise, Open Inn Turning Point, Big Brothers Big Sisters and other organizations.

2 Impartiality - Humanitarian aid is provided according to need; therefore, there is no discrimination on the basis of ethnicity, religion or nationality.
3 Neutrality - No sides are taken in conflict, and no statements are made regarding political, ethnic, religious or ideological beliefs.
When you look at her background of humanitarian causes, you see no association with religious groups. This is no way demeans her or her sacrifice. It appears that religion did not play that big of a role in her humanitarian activies. See my post #45.
“Someone can believe in God and not be a Christian.” Then they do not believe in God. They may have a fanciful understanding of a god, but apart from Jesus, there is no union or belief in God.
This Pres_ent would be as funny as a Monty Python skit if he wasn't so pathetic.
Dear God!! If this is true may this pestilence from Kenya rot in Hell and all those who voted for this POS. Unbelievable! Again I will say this Obama is a very evil man, the more he stays in power the more he will abuse it. He has his minions on his sides. Don’t be shocked if Obama remains for another term and another. Please Jesus come quick!
Tell that to a Jew.
You are correct that you don’t have to be a Christian to to good works, but she however does claim to be one and her word is good enough for me.
I do know that the pro-terror International Solidarity Movement (ISM) honored Kayla Mueller today for her activism in the West Bank.
Abdullah Abu Rahma, coordinator of the popular committee in the village of Bilin where Kayla joined the protests, told ISM: Kayla came to Palestine to stand in solidarity with us. She marched with us and faced the military that occupies our land side by side with us. For this, Kayla will always live in our hearts. We send all our support to her family and will continue, like Kayla, to work against injustice wherever it is.
Certainly in THESE TIMES there is plenty of aid needed here. She also did some rallying for a Pro-Palistinian Group I read.
..piloting a B1 bomber with nukes.
Moses, for example!
Yes. I heard it too.
As a Christian my very first concern was for her and was she saved...Before hearing she was killed, I saw pics of her getting an award from the Kiwanis (I know nothing of them sorry) assumed it was along the lines of Lions Club etc?
At any rate I was hoping that she was a Christian but did not hear anything along the lines of the Dr working for Samaritans purse etc, I heard only that she was a volunteer for Dr`s without Borders, wonderful group btw.
But am happy to hear now that she spoke of God`s will, and this morning I heard her family had a deep Christian faith, so hopefully that`s the case Praise The Lord Jesus.
She is obviously a wonderful person, God Bless her, but I have to confess I did not hear anything about her being with a Christian group or Church etc in the reporting I heard about prior to her death.
I did not hear that she was interested in sharing the Gospel, but am glad to hear now that she indeed was a Christian...but in defense of the original poster, I had just honestly got the feeling from the first reporting that she may have been just a very nice person (especially nice person) just helping showing her love in a secular way...that was just how it came across to me prior to the reporting of her death..
Such a sweet girl I wanted to hear she was with Samaritans purse or something, but never heard.
Hopefully she was a devoted Christian..
I assume I just did...and I will tell that to the world. It matters not what you or anyone thinks about it.
