House Speaker John Boehner made a mistake inviting Benjamin Netanyahu to speak before Congress next month -- and the Israeli prime minister erred by accepting, legendary conservative pundit Pat Buchanan says.
"I disagree with what John Boehner did and I disagree with what the prime minister did," Buchanan said Thursday on "The Steve Malzberg Show," on Newsmax TV.
Netanyahu is set to address Congress on the dangers of Iran's growing nuclear program on March 3 following an invitation by Boehner.
But Boehner did not follow normal protocol by coordinating the invite with the Obama administration, which then announced the president would not meet with Netanyahu.
"It's a mistake to come over here and Boehner to give him time to criticize the foreign policy of the president of the U.S. in the same forum as the State of the Union," Buchanan said.
But the bestselling author and former communications director for President Reagan added that Democratic members of Congress should not boycott Netanyahu's address, as some have hinted they will.
"I don't think we want to compound [Boehner's error]," Buchanan said. "Folks in the Congress of the United States, if they're there, they ought to go and hear the speech."
In addition to spanking Boehner, Buchanan is also fuming at Obama for comparing the extreme barbarity of the Islamic State (ISIS) to the Crusades, in which horrifying acts were carried out a thousand years ago in the name of Jesus Christ.

Pat shares the same views towards Israel as many liberals do but guess who gets called out for being anti-Semitic?
I agree with Pat on virtually everything except Israel.

You’re not from this planet, are you?
I knew he was bad news in 2000, and I was an 18 year old first time voter then.
Even Gandhi had a total blind spot for these sort of things and was naive enough to think that World War II was preventable.
Gandhi could have been an anti-semite as could Buchanan. Neither, however, did anywhere close to the damage of an Obama or even a Jimmy Carter in said regard.
ESAD Pat.
Thank you.
Thanks Pat. Do you have any ideas on how I can save 15% or more on car insurance?
Your input really matters.
The Anti-Semite, Pat Buchanan, speaks.
Talk to the hand, pal.
pat buchanan is a moron..
period, end of discussion
Doesn't something seem phoney and dictatorial about this claim from Obama that Congress must obtain permission from him concerning who addresses joint sessions of Congress
I would imagine there has been at least one case of a Dem-controlled congress inviting a foreign speaker to address them, without asking permission of a Republican administration.
I have to admit...I have always found the co-equal branch thingy a difficult concept to understand...
Pat Buchanan not only denied the Holocaust, he’s mocked Elie Wiesel for pursuing war criminals.
He didn’t have President Reagan give that eulogy to SS troops for no reason.

It was fun to watch the results of his cascading brain chemistry, that’s for sure. :’)
Buchanan once referred to Congress as “Israeli-occupied territory”.
Geez.....
I find it hard to believe that Pitchfork Pat actually believes the nonsense he writes and says on the air. He used to be a lot of fun on the original “Crossfire”, and was involved in the 1980 debate talking points coaching (remember, the Carter campaign lost one of their coaching scripts used to prepare Carter for the debates, and the Reagan campaign was able to formulate devastating responses to each of Carter’s talking points?). That liberal guy, old guy, that was Buchanan’s opposite number on the show was prepared to shame Pat for the next hour or whatever, and wound up agreeing that there wasn’t anything wrong with what he’d done. It was hilarious. Back then, Buchanan was hiding most of what he was from the public. He doesn’t now.
I am so tired of hearing from Buchanan.
Pat, I’m ever so sorry John Boehner broke protocol by inviting the head of government who anonymous administration sources referred to as a chickens**t coward.
