Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS) militants are selling abducted Iraqi children at markets as sex slaves, and killing other youths, including by crucifixion or burying them alive, a United Nations watchdog said on Wednesday.
Iraqi boys aged under 18 are increasingly being used by the militant group as suicide bombers, bomb makers, informants or human shields to protect facilities against US-led air strikes, the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child said.
"We are really deeply concerned at torture and murder of those children, especially those belonging to minorities, but not only from minorities," committee expert Renate Winter told a news briefing.
"The scope of the problem is huge."
Children from the Yazidi sect or Christian communities, but also Shi'ites and Sunnis, have been victims, she said.
"We have had reports of children, especially children who are mentally challenged, who have been used as suicide bombers, most probably without them even understanding," Winter told Reuters.
"There was a video placed (online) that showed children at a very young age, approximately eight years of age and younger, to be trained already to become child soldiers."
Islamic State is a breakaway Al-Qaeda group that declared an Islamic caliphate across parts of Syria and Iraq last summer.

Janet Napolitano was indeed prophetic when , in one of her first actions as head of Department of Homeland Security, she renamed acts of Islamic terror and terrorism to be called “Man Caused Disasters”.
The massive world wide resurgence in terrorism and unbounded barbaric savagery by Islamic Radicals over the last 6 years is indeed a man caused disaster.

Not only is the growth of ISIS to be laid at the doorstep of the Current Occupant, this vastly surpasses the mischief done by Jimmy Carter when he encouraged the Islamic Republic of Iran to overthrow the Shah of Iran. A similar operation is going on in Syria, where strongman Bashar al-Assad is at risk of being deposed by a similar fundamentalist Islamic jihadist cult.
Only this has gone far beyond just the holding of some of our embassy people. This is involving neighboring countries, and cutting across all kinds of ethnic lines.
And the Current Occupant appears to be both determined to depose Bashar in Syria, and to simultaneously dithering about what to do, what to do, about the ISIS faction, do we support them, or do we just stand here and wring our hands?
