Widespread defaults seem inevitable. The whole system is a house of cards.

The Greeks never should have been admitted to the EU to begin with.
They never truly implemented the austerity program they agreed to.

The EU should never have been formed to begin with. It was just a insidious device to separate citizens from their government.

If I miss read your post I apologize
The Greeks have not shown any morals, during the war, after the war. They will go broke and will be the first of the PIGS to go belly up and leave the Euro

Greek exit from the euro is necessary and inevitable. Somewhere in the Bundesbank there is a plan for a Greek return to the drachma. When emissaries of the new Greek government arrive in Berlin and demand their due, they are likely to ushered to this room and told to sign on the dotted line.

When you owe the bank $500,000 the bank owns you
When you owe the bank $5,000,000,000,000 you own the bank
That I believe is the saying. And right now the Germans/French (do not forget them) own the Greeks

The EU should never have been formed to begin with. It was just a insidious device to separate citizens from their government. It certainly worked out that way.
Surely the open borders idea is a complete failure.

Right, poor Greeks were forced to borrow 300 billion euro, 100 of which were forgiven.
To: ClearCase_guy
If the Greeks were smart, they would negotiate a timetable for leaving the Eurozone in an orderly fashion. And have it done in about 18 months.

The Germans paid billions to other countries—Poland, Yugoslavia—but nothing to Greece. The Greeks fought unbelievably valiantly against the Nazis also. In fact, that may be why the Germans got back at them after the war.
I’m not saying that automatically means today’s Germany should pay reparations.
A friend of mine likes to say, “At the dawn of recorded history, the Middle East was at war.” That is funny in a sick way because it implies that they were at war before that and somebody finally decided to write something down about it. But who were those armies? Why, the Persians and the Greeks. And the Greeks won. We could use them today. They are still mad at the Persians too.

It certainly worked out that way.
Open borders. Inflexible currency among diverse economys. Un-elected technocrats ruling powerless citizens with an iron hand.
What could go wrong?
