A year out from the Iowa caucuses, potential presidential candidate and Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker has taken the lead among Republicans, an Iowa Poll published Saturday indicates. With 15 percent support, Walker leads a number of other potential candidates for the Republican ticket, including Rand Paul, Ben Carson, Mike Huckabee and Jeb Bush, the Des Moines Register reported.
Walker is the No. 2 candidate among potential caucus attendees who support an establishment candidate as well as those who prefer one who is anti-establishment, the Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics Iowa poll indicated.
Following close behind, U.S. Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky came in with 14 percent. And 2012 GOP nominee Mitt Romney, who bowed out of the race before the poll was released, held 13 percent. "After putting considerable thought into making another run for president, Ive decided it is best to give other leaders in the party the opportunity to become our next nominee," Romney said Friday.
Without Romney in the race, the candidates below him picked up a few more points, including Mike Huckabee, the former Arkansas governor and Fox News host, who picked up 3 percent.
New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie also picked up a couple of points, bringing him to a tie with Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.
While Walker is still behind at the national level, the presidential hopeful has been making gains, holding 11 percent, according to Public Policy Polling. Its the first time hes registered at double digits, the firm said.

And yet anyone who promises to be able to chase them all out of the USA has either got supernatural powers or is lying. A combination of carrot and stick, which will probably please nobody in particular, is probably optimal for bringing the issue into the daylight.
There will NEVER be a perfect conservative candidate, Hell, Reagan wasn't even perfect by today's FReeper standards; if we don't unite around a yet to be announced conservative candidate in 2016, despite their flaws, we will see another Obama type (or worse) get elected.
America can't take another Commie Rat for 8 more years and survive!
We better coalesce around a candidate next year or this country is in deep cow dung.
Debate is healthy and necessary, but let's not shoot ourselves in the foot over one disagreement of a candidate.
Better him that jeb...
I’ve got lots more:

I remember 2012 there were some who attacked every single frontrunner on FR. I had to think they were trolls or sleeper cells but it was very disturbing.
I love FR and hope we can stay upbeat this election. If we find a candidate who can take us in the right direction (and I love Walker btw) then we need to fight like hell to get them elected.
Palin never put the droan of her quitting as Governor in midterm behind her.
The bazzards get hold of something and that's all they talk.
1986’s low information world??????? SO 2015 world are WELL informed are you kidding me!!!!!!!!
Can you at least be honest about time lines — he has since partly Walkered it back or at least clarified.
Sometimes optimals are not those who promise absolutes.
In 2013, Walker told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he hasnt taken a position on citizenship for illegal immigrants. He told Politico, For people waiting to come in our country legally, weve got to make sure that they get in first, that they get their status first, because theyve been following the rules and playing by the rules. After that, if there is a way to set up a process so that you enable people to come in and have a legal pathway to do that, thats something weve got to embrace. Whether or not its that specific bill or not, I think theres some nuances to that.
“...biased polling.” The poll released today was a
Bloomberg/ Des Moines Register poll. You can easily find it.
Palin apparently was not polled on it.
“Gov. Walker backs citizenship pathway for illegal immigrants..”
I don’t think we will ever see a pure conservative for a long time to come. For the time being, we are stuck with picking the “best” of the lot. ANYTHING to keep another Marxist America-hater out of the White House.
Thanks.... I am wondering if the record is being cleansed.
Palin was not the source of the drone. Everyone knew the whole story, it was a wicked move targeted at her personally, the perfect worldly trap. “Conservatives” who fall in with the liberals’ accusation squad are hardly worth a bucket of warm spit.
This man has been MORE THAN vetted they have thrown EVERYTHING at him he SURVIVED in a DEEP BLUE STATE!!!!!!!
So what are all the links I provided based on?
Each one of the significantly-better-than-Mitt-or-Jebs will have a flaw somewhere. Until the bible lies, that is just going to be the case.
Now if we can avoid letting Satan organize conservatives for the third time into a circular firing squad over it, we will do quite well!
Ronald Reagan did not have hindsight to guide him and the amnesty he signed was part of a much larger border security bill that he signed but was never enforced!
You can’t compare what Ronald Reagan did in 1986 with what the idiots of today are doing!
Walker is not needed in the White House now. He has no bold ideas. He’s a manager and he needs to stay and finish reforms in Wisconsin.
Cruz is the one that’s needed to save the sinking ship that is America. Walker is the guy to run the ship when it’s seaworthy again.
Cruz comes first, Walker comes later.
Walker will be 56 years old in 2024. He’s got plenty of time to develop to develop an agenda between now and then. Right now he doesn’t have one. All he’s got is that he faced down the unions. Hell, Christie’s got that going for him!
