Most likely because the iOS devices cost hundreds, as opposed to the cost of a decent computer from them, which is over 1,000 to 2,500 at the highest, and its really impractical to build a hackintosh, a cheap way to build, as well, plenty of compatibility issues. It was a good venture that they engaged in starting in 2007, and it has paid off to sell phones and ipods, and not just costly computers. Its part of what got them out of the ditch that earlier management got them into. Uh, nope:
1.4GHz Mac Mini 4GB memory, 500GB hard drive, Intel HD Graphics 5000, OS X Yosemite, $499.00
Add your existing keyboard, mouse, and screen. Done.

I’ve got a 40-inch screen (the TV, which is high resolution) and I have a keyboard already (I use it sometimes with my iPad, when typing a long note) ... so that looks like a pretty good deal!

How is that a deal? I paid less than half that for double the specs of that 2+ years ago for a Lenovo laptop that already has a keyboard and monitor built in? Talk about misleading... $499 for an obsolete box is ludicrous...

And with the screen, keyboard, and mouse from Apple, the total will be around around 1,000, so you pretty much just proved my point again. Plus, I have my most recent desktop computer assembled for less than the cost of your mac mini, and higher performance specs too. That’s the limits of their market. Once someone knows how to assemble their own computer, you’re at a dead end.
